Forgive me if this has been covered, I searched for some time and didn't find any information.

I would like to learn how to edit the name of tomtom voices, as they are shown when you navigate to the change voices menu.



I can see that voice files have 3 components, *.bmp, *.chk, and *.vif

Opening the *.vif file in notepad gives me some info like this:

Data116:
Snoop_0.6a_UK
data116.chk
Snoop
2
2

Snoop_0.6a_UK

(In the tomtom menu this is listed as: "Snoop, English US" )

or

Data117
English - Elvis Presley
data117.chk

(In the tomtom menu this is listed as: "Wang, Chinese" )



How do I edit the second file(s) to reflect the real name (Elvis Presley)?

I have tried using the snoop data as a template and swapping the names, but this doesn't seem to have any effect.
