Changing sound for speed limit - TT XL

Changing sound for speed limit - TT XL

Postby kl1k » Thu Aug 30, 2012 9:35 am

I have a TT XL (NC 9.430) - I can change the sound alerts for POI's, but how do I change the sound alert for going over the speed limit? I think the NC was upgraded recently and now its defaulting to another annoying alert sound.

Main Menu, Change preferences, Safety preferences, "Warn when driving faster than allowed" and/or "Warn when driving faster than a set speed".

That just enables or disables it though? How do you change the actual sound though from one wav to another?

After checking either box & click "Done", the appropriate warning sounds selection window opens.

Ok, I think I'm losing it. I can't find the change preferences option.

Under options there is vol preferences, brightness, driving view preferences, manage pois, disable safety alerts etc, but not change preferences option, or a safety preferences option?

Correct - 9.430.

I found a similiar post where someone was having a similiar problem. They said delete all loose files and recommend to TT home. I tried that - it reinstalled the files and its on 9.430. Same problem though - no change preferences menu.

Used Tt home to check for the latest updates, and then installed united kingdom and Ireland 895.4438 and ran the latest version of fastactivate to patch maps and core.

OK, so far.
Please run this tool: TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} Post your results here.

If all fails you can try [Please Register or Login to download file] 9.430.
Enter the password in the box and press enter,
next windo click on "download",
then again on "download now",
if at any point you see "skip this ad..." in the top right corner, click on skip and not the download presented in the ad ;)
I created in an attempt to solve the silence problem for computer voices but got no feedback on that so far.
In case the warning sound problem is related to a spiced down menu for the XL you can select a different emulation using the skin chooser in the menu.
A double tap in the center of the screen confirms the selection and reboots the device.
A custom menu won't help in your case as the preferences are either not available or undocumented.

He has the official current navcore for his XL, which is 9.430 and was installed by TT Home. It appears that he has a simplified menu, which he shouldn't have.
Based on his TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} results, I have a couple of either/or things to suggest.

This download has 3 files in it. Disregard the "support" file. Copy the ttsystem & model.txt files into the root of your unit overwriting the current ttsystem file.
