I've spent all day reading this forum LOL. Picking up various bits of information on upgrading/changing/modding my TomTom devices. So then I took the plunge. So would anyone mind if I check the outputs? 1. Are they the best combinations? Here we go...
TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 740 LIVE
DeviceVersionHW=GO 740 LIVE
BootLoaderVersion=55250
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9205
ApplicationVersion=547817.1
CurrentMap=United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland 875_3675
CurrentMapVersion=875.3675
2. So I put 9205 on there (I believe this is the navicore) - but then I read that there is a newer one. I guess I made the mistake of believing the larger number was the newest version.
3. I've also managed to get the same config on a Go520 (output below) - but notice that the bootloader is different.

The best working Navcore is always what Home offers you.
Other Navcores can work well on a device, but there are no guarantees.
Good is always what runs runs well on the device and gives the user the options he/she needs - that can be a V8 Navcore too ;)

2. Nope, 9.205 is fine.
3. If the devices boot OK, then don't worry about the bootloaders being different.
