Cleaning up / making space on a old 1GB TT One New Ed.

Ok so I have a TT one 32mb unit with 1gb (979ish formatted) space on it.
I would like to load the newest largest USA/Canada map on it I can.

I am running NC 9.510MB from here with the one skin selected by hacking the reskin file so I can select it and its always got 5.9 - 9 mb free and runs real nice. No crashes or reboots. (Thanks Downunder35m!!!)

I don't use LoquendoTTS,ASR,BT,FM,MP3,GPRS, or any other fancy features and I know back in the old TTUser days you could turn off may features to speed up your unit and free ram.

On that note I already deleted the ASR and LoquendoTTS folders and my unit still seems to work fine.

My questions are:

What else can I delete to make space but still keep basic functions so I can get a bigger/newer map on?
What's the best map to load onto it that covers USA/Canada?
The unit is formatted FAT16 with 16k clusters right now - would it be better off reformatted as FAT32 with 4k clusters? (or something else?)

1. Nothing else in 9.510.
2. USA_Canada_1GB_910_4955[935MB]
3. It would be better off not reformatting it at all. Since you have already done so, do FAT32.

After copying just the map alone with no other files (not even the brand folder) I am sitting @ 46mb free on the device. 9.510 is over 90mb extracted with the ASR and LoquendoTTS folders deleted ... It wont fit unless more can come out. The last NC I had on it was 9.058 and I was around 40mb (if I load it and strip out what I can I am left with around 600kb free on the device after patches, poi, and a voice.) Any idea what the smallest newer NC is then?

The unzipped FULL 9.510.1-2039.CAB-navcore-GO.cab is only 53MB. If 9.058 worked for you, then keep it. It is compatible with all 915 maps.

Some more thoughts:
- Since a while also partial USA maps are available... for instance USA West + Canada = 495M. Depending on your destination you may pick one for these maps and copy them onto your device.
- Do not copy over the cspeech files
- As for the voices folder: you may only need to copy the .vif and .chk files you need (numbers 7, 8, 9 and 16 for US English).
- You may save more space by deleting the following folders: helpme, loquindotts, raster, Tomtom home install.app
Good luck!

Addressing this to the original poster - making space is what this post is about and what I was confronted with recently...
