Sorry for the late reply.....been working.... thanks!!.... its now solved.....the only thing i didnt have which you supplied was the new SE System file. It turns out that there is definately something wrong with my mates nav and he's sending it back for a replacement. the truck software and maps loaded up fine but it was really slow and when i checked the free RAM it was only just over 3mb!! But all in all....RESULT! Thanks for all your help.

Maybe your friends nav needs to run the TomTom Clear Flash tool to empty the flash memory, this can cause the device to run slow if it gets full.
