Completely stuck with an XL 250

Postby juzdu » Sat Jan 29, 2011 5:34 am

My parents have an XL 250 with an Australian map on it. As they're heading to New Zealand for a driving holiday, I wanted to add an NZ map.

After backing up the memory card, I updated it to the 9205 navcore, and installed the New Zealand 860_3101 map. Both the Aus and NZ maps were working fine, but I couldn't get any audio out of the device. No voices, no mp3, nothing.

So I decided to start again, but after wiping the memory card, and copying back the backup I did, on reboot the device is saying "You cannot use this map on this device: Australia-136".

Seems strange, as this should be the original config. The ttgo.bif has the following:

DeviceName=TomTom XL
DeviceVersionHW=XL
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9151
ApplicationVersion=605385.103
CurrentMap=Australia
CurrentMapVersion=845.2661

Anyone know what i've done wrong here?

Not strange at all. You haven't patched the original navcore.

Cheers for the reply, but unsure why i'd need to patch the original navcore if i'm going back to the original backup? But following your advice, can you suggest what I need to "patch the original navcore"?

You said, "I updated it to the 9205 navcore, and installed the New Zealand 860_3101 map."
Were did you get the 9.205 navcore & NZ 3101 map?

From fixmygps IIRC. Anyway, i ran FastActivate and did the ttsystem patch, and sure enough that's fixed it, i'm back to where I started. So I guess the issue is why the sound doesn't work when I upgrade to a new navcore.

To insure the highest degree of quality control, Navitotal does not offer support for items downloaded elsewhere. Sorry.

Yer same problem try this one. It is an easymenu but all the maps activate properly. http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?2273-Start-Navcore-with-newstyle-simplified-menu-for-most-devices

Just have to wait a bit for the guys to check this one out. Funny how this one works but not the others.
