Postby bucer » Sun Aug 12, 2012 12:13 am

Hello everone,

First of all a very warm welcome as i'm new to forum and this is my first thred :grouphug:

Also using this opportunity, can i kindly ask more experienced colleagues for help in choosing best NC and Map pack for TT GO910?
Literally now i'm wiping HDD in my TT (for the 4-th time!) and i think i will go for NC 9.450 and WCE2GB885_4009.
I will be grateful for hints and tips.

1. Never post your 910's serial # and/or it's Unique ID!
2. Your bootloader is way out of date.
3. In post 1, you said you have WCE2GB885_4009. What map are you downloading now?

Thanks for info, now it looks like that:

GetMy-CFG v2.53
===============

DeviceID=XXXXXXXXXX
DeviceVersionHW=GO 910
DeviceSerialNumber=XXXXXXXXXX

ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9450
TTSystem 2302381 bytes, modified 2012-06-23 11:43
PNDNavigator 8144020 bytes, modified 2012-06-23 11:43
BootLoaderVersion=48600
RDS/TMC 'mctx.dat' size 212 bytes
CurrentMap=Europe_890_4222
CurrentMapVersion=890.4222
NederlandPostalVersion=Version885
GreatBritainPostalVersion=Version885
SingaporePostalVersion=Version880

DSA emulation mode=36-XLLIVE;36-XL

# - - - - - End - - - - - #

And everything is working :-] Just that QuickGPSfix is s....t, have to clear it to get correct position.
Do you know why clock on GPS is one hour late, and don't really know if i should play with bootloader tough?

Thanks again for showing interest

1. Please explain. QuickGPSfix should not have any effect on position. It's only purpose is to get a Quick GPS fix.
2. Possibly DST. Set the clock to correct time in Main Menu, Change preferences.

1. I was thinking about my current position on the map (few feet away from correct position), but after clearing QuickGPSfix from TTHome my cart came back to correct position.
2. Time is correct :/

"In TomTom HOME, delete the QuickGPSfix from the device AND the computer also, and DON'T update. Disconnect properly, and do a soft reset." - That's what i found on TT forum. I'm nnot sure is this is correct procedure, but finally everything is working ok :clap: - Even tested on the road :yahoo:

Thank you for your help.

Don't know where you got this, but it is bad & incorrect info.

The satellites are constantly moving. As they move, the time, it takes a TT to lock on, gets longer & longer. QuickGPSfix eliminates this problem by resyncing a TT with the satellites. Deleting the old QuickGPSfix files from the device AND the computer does not cause a problem, provided you update QuickGPSfix after deleting & continue to update. Not updating is a bad decision.

Have to agree here!
Even with several devices in use (Sirf and Global Locate) the Quickfix updates work just fine.
The "solutions" on the TT websites might be worth something if all is genuine, but if you look closely than there are not many really useful tipps as most the info is based on common sense ;)
On the device the folder "ephem" contains all GPS related data. A faulty file here will cause problems of all sorts.
The quickfix data stored on the PC is basically all outdated and only the data specific for your device is of interest. Deleting both on the device and on the PC will cause the TT system to loose ALL GPS related data and usually only an update through Home will fix it - unless you use the downloader for the quickfix data ;)

There was only one "incident" that I can recall where TT messed up the positiong data and claimed deleting all related files and folders will fix it.
That however was the TT way of "fixing" the proper way would have been to restore the ephem folder from a working backup and after that do the normal quickfix update through Home again (the data is only up-to-date for a short period of time and new files are released on a regular base).

Without the current quickfix data your device will work fine now, after finding the satellites, but turn it off for a week and try again to get a fix on your position ;) You might want to make some coffee while you`re waiting...

Thank you guys for the explanation. I'm new to this so don't have great knowledge, but thanks to you it all starts to take shape :7: hehe

Downunder53m - so what advice do you have for me? It's true, i had to wait quite a while for TT to get correct position.
Every time when i load NC and maps it has mentioned fault, even after upgrading QuickGPSfisx through the TTHome.
