connection to Tomtom Home after new navcore GO910

Postby Apextwin » Mon May 24, 2010 7:19 am

Morning !

after updating my GO910 from 7.9XX Navcore to 8.4XX Navcore (with ALG) when placing the unit in the docking station the GO will not start up. I have to keep the "on" buttom held for 40 seconds at least and sometime it starts and sometimes it doesn't. Once started Home recognises the unit and although there is an error message (something about reporting to TomTom) I have almost all functionality.

Only this start-up/connection (reboot) problem is bugging me, does anybody have any ideas ??

Thanks,

Perplexed from Hamburg

Ok i reccomend using 1 of the 9.026 .cab files and the SE ttsystem file for your unit, but if you prefer to stay with your 8.4 navcore this is how to fix the wrong version error you are recieving with tomtomhome,

1.Connect device to pc
2.Open ttgo.bif (With a text editor such as notepad)

Change these 2 lines below to read like below (Latest officiall navcore for your device)
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183

3.Save the file as ttgo.bak
4.Reboot your device
5.Connect to tthome and that error should not show up now ;)

And also for your power on problem use the TomTom Clear Flash tool see if that helps as your devices flash memory might be full, (Download it in my sig)

Thanks for the quick answer djc,

So I tried to flash the memory which made no difference and by "updating" the Versions numbers in a notepad and savings a .bak left me still getting the error message from TomTom Home.So for the sake of progress i gave up and....
deleted all the contents of my unit and copied the 9.026.cab files to the root (unpacked), unfortunately I could not find the SE ttsystem file for the GO910 so I took the GO950. This has resorted into a further problem, the unit won't start, I am stuck with the tomtom start logo and faint bubbles
in the left hand corner.....yikes, help !

Sorry to be a nuisance....

Ok dont panick ;) , what is your current bootloader version ? if that is anything but a 1x bootloader your fine, if it is a 1x bootloader please come back here for further assistance. (Also dont update the bootloader unless neccessery)

0. Formatt your drive
1. Download this navcore [Please Register or Login to download file] and extract the contents to your drive
2. Download SE_ttsystem.9.026.483454.rar and copy the ttsystem file to the root of your drive overwrighting when prompted
3. Copy to your device the map folder from your backup or download location on your pc
4. Run keygen 4.1D to patch the map if needed (if your map is already patchd forgett this step.
5. Copy your voices/art ect over from your backup, reeboot.

Done ;)

excellent !!

It woked a dream but somehow the keygen coud not read the already stored meta files (inside the map folders), I had however find an alternative keygen on my hours of research on google and it worked.

The only remaining niggling problem is the "powering-up" . I have to keep the on button pressed for 30 seconds before anything happens. Any ideas Mr magic ??

Thanks for your patience !

Well if you followd the above installation instructions then the only thing it could be is the bootloader, what is your current bootloader version look on your device for the file bootloaderversion.txt.

do you have an original backup of your device?

one that would possibly contain this 1.XXX bootloader version?

and do u to still have to keep the on button pressed for 30 seconds before anything happens?

Good lateral thinking .... I had not thought of that.

The original back-up shows :

DeviceName=TomTom GO 910
DeviceVersionHW=GO 910
DeviceSerialNumber=taken out
DeviceUniqueID=taken out
RamDiskVersion=20081205
BootLoaderVersion=55128
LinuxVersion=2344
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=7903
ApplicationVersion=9183
UserLanguage=English UK
UserName=taken out
LastConnectionTime=Never
GPSFirmwareVersion=GSW3.2.4TT_3.1.00.12-C35B1.02
BuiltInColorScheme0=Belgica
BuiltInColorScheme1=Brittanica
BuiltInColorScheme2=America
BuiltInColorScheme3=Germanica
BuiltInColorScheme4=Australia
BuiltInColorScheme5=Deuteranopia
BuiltInColorScheme6=Greys
BuiltInColorScheme7=Antarctica
BuiltInColorScheme8=Africa
BuiltInColorScheme9=Astra
CurrentColorSchemeBuiltIn=0
CurrentVoiceInfo=Jane
CurrentHomeLocation=taken out
Traffic=N
CurrentFuelpricesType=
CurrentFuelpricesTypeString=

not sure whether that will help at all....

I have found once connected to an original tomtom charger it boots faster, connected to a tomtom docking station and the PC it takes 30-40 "wobbly" seconds.

I shall be "out of town" for two nights but back with you Friday.

Really appreciate the support, Cheers !!!

even though Djc described pretty much the same steps in post #5
maybe you'll have better luck with the TOMTOM CLEAR FLASH TOOL!
Worth a try!

What i would do is this:

-Create a full BACKUP of your device using windows explorer, follow tutorial --> Here!
-Then use TOMTOM CLEAR FLASH TOOL to format your Device, tool found --> Here!
-Then re-install NAvCore
-Then re-install your MAP (Run keygen 4.1D to patch the map if needed)
-try to BOOT

report back results

Thanks Navi Friends, I spoke too soon, this morning it took the ol' faithful 910 a good 90 seconds to fire up but the useful tips above are still to be tried out. I am away from home today (no PC), will try the old back- up and flash the unit and report back tomorrow. Thanks for your support..... Cheers!
