Does 885 maps have Text to Speech?

Sat Mar 24, 2012 12:23 pm

Hello,

I just upgraded my Tom Tom to the following:

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=XL IQ Routes Edition
BootLoaderVersion=55136
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9400
ApplicationVersion=851694.1
CurrentMap=USA_Canada_and_Mexico_P
CurrentMapVersion=885.4097
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...
TTNAVIGATOR.BIF:
Not Found...

So I change both maps and navcore. After the change I loose the TTS and Lane Guidance. From the 885 table it looks like 885.4097 does noth ave ALG but does it have TTS? Is TTS the same as Cspeech? Previous Navcore was 8415.

Thanks!,
Orlando

TTS requires a LoquendoTTS voice. I suspect you lost your LoquendoTTS folder during the navcore upgrade, depending on how you upgraded.
You are correct, USA, C & M 4097 is very basic.
Do you need coverage for all 3 countries?
No TTS & Cspeech are not the same. Cspeech is for the user to talk to his device.

Thansk for the tips. I choose USA, C & M 4097 because I needed PR. But I realized PR is also on the US Map. So I will try USA.4088. As far as the TTS the Loquendo TTS folder was almost empty. I will copy the Loquendo file from my original backup and see it that fixes the issue.

1. Good choice. It has IQ Routes & ALG, but no Cspeech, which you don't need.
2. Good plan.

I copy the Loquendo TTS folder and now I have Susan giving me directions with TTS.
What is the best way to upgrade maps and navcore.
I am thinking about making a copy of my backup and then install the new map on the same backp copy. Then update the navcore using the same backup folder and saying yes to any prompt about overwrite files. Then I will remove the original map and copy the whole modified backup back to the TT. That way only what changes get overwritten. Does that make sense?

It makes no sense at all

1. Great.
2. a. Upgrade your map by removing the old map folder & copying in the new map folder.
b. Let TT Home upgrade your navcore to the current 9.401. Patch map & navcore with FastActivate Premium.
3. You are creating a lot of needless work for yourself!!!
