The map I mentioned in post 10 is the most suitable for you I think. From the Netherlands to Italie without a mapchange.
Europe 1GB South 975 7748 (Low-Level 18 Countries)
Nederland, België, Luxemburg, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Andorra, Denemarken
Gibraltar, Italië, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Oostenrijk, Portugal,
San Marino, Spanje, Vaticaanstad, Zwitserland
(meta integrated in FastAktivate)
610 MB

So you see you are not such a dummy if you read carefully and follow advice from experienced users...

I see there is no Germany in it. So for the moment I don,t know what to advise. I shall look into it tomorrow. With a little bit off luck somebody give a hint from the Netherlands to Italy and under 1 GB.

I would suggest Europe_Central. Just make sure to delete as much possible on your device. Delete those voices you don't use, remove zip files.
If the map does not fit you may opt to remove the map's poi.dat file. Or replace it with a smaller one from another map (e.g. Italy or Netherlands).

Looks like Duitsland is included in that map to me....or am I missing something?

You miss nothing. Some friendly person in the past said that map
Europe 1GB South 970 7790 (Low-Level 18 Countries) has the following country,s
Nederland, België, Luxemburg, Duitsland, Frankrijk, Andorra, Denemarken
Gibraltar, Italië, Liechtenstein, Malta, Monaco, Oostenrijk, Portugal,
San Marino, Spanje, Vaticaanstad, Zwitserland.

I assumed that the map Europe_1Gb_South_975_7486
had the same country,s.
But in practice, there are only the following country,s in that map
(Low-Level 13 Countries)
Andora, Frankrijk, Gibraltar, Italië, Liechtenstein,
Malta,- Monaco, Oostenrijk, Portugal, San Marino,
Spanje, Vaticaanstad, Zwitserland.

So no Germany. So the information from Europe 1GB South 970 7790 was wrong on purpose (I control it) or a mistake

Europe_Central. Razorblatter mentioned is too big 980 MB
but what he said If the map does not fit you may opt to remove the map's poi.dat file.
Or replace it with a smaller one from another map (e.g. Italy or Netherlands).

So opt for the poi from Italy 975_7748
Then you have plenty of space So it means you can only find poi,s in Italy
So at the moment this seems the only way if you want from the Netherlands to Italy with a 1GB device.

Yes, the above information is wrong, it is:

Low-Level Europe_1GB_South_970_7490 (11 Countries, new coverage, missing France and Monaco) = 377MB:
Andorra, Austria, Gibraltar, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malta, Portugal, San Marino, Spain, Switzerland, Vatican City

So, not all of the new 975 Europe maps have metas yet so there can only be 3 options:

1. Follow Razorblatters advice and go for Europe_Central_975_7748 which as said before is 980MB extracted size. You cannot remove poi.dat completely or you will get a map error but you can replace with Italy_975_7748 poi.dat. I just tested this and it appears to work although I can't get a GPS lock as I'm in the UK....however the extracted size is then 863MB so will fit the device.

2. Go with 2 x 970 maps and switch maps:

Low-Level Central_Europe_North_970_7490 (7 Countries, coverage not changed, same as 965_7280 release) = 358MB:
Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland

Low-Level Central_Europe_South_970_7490 (10 Countries, coverage not changed, same as 965_7280 release) = 288MB:
Austria, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Malta, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Vatican City

3. Buy a better TT as it's very old now and doesn't have the space to accommodate the maps for such a long journey. Any TT Go x40 or x50 would be a good upgrade and has an SD card slot so could run fully featured maps like Europe_975_7685. Having advanced features like ALG etc would be a lot better for a trip like the OP's planning.

Personally, I'd go for option 3 as they're not that expensive to buy now & would pay for itself in that one journey.

you're right. I got a really stupid answer in the forum. I have invented in a pathetic story of hope that the former have normal responses.
I had to put at least one item for somewhere to get access
