ephem folder contents

Postby noone12345 » Mon Aug 24, 2015 1:36 pm

I recently updated my tomtom one XL with:

navcore 9510 1234792.1
map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_955_6746

my unit GPS chip shows GL1 int LNA FFFF ( Global Locate? )

now i used fast activate to do the "Update QuickGPSfix" and it said something along the lines of updating with SirfIII which is the wrong chipset right?
so I used TomTom HOME and it offered me the GPS fix so I let it install that aswell.

now my ephem folder contains the following files
ee_meta.tlv
ee_meta.txt
SirfIII-QuickGPSFix.exe
WGet.exe

Does that look right? Because my gps is taking much longer to lock on than before the update. I should add that my backup ephem folder contents shows files from 2009 including a file called packedephemeris.ee

Any tips guys......and I should add that this forum has been a great help to me with my unit update.
Thanks

Delete the content of the folder and update you GPS fix through Home again.
Alternative: After deleting the contents of the folder unpack [Please Register or Login to download file] into the folder and do it without Home.

Can you clarify something. Those files you posted are very different from the ones Home placed in that folder.
The Home fix has to be obtained regularly from Home as it has sat locations right?

How do I use your files? Would I just run one of the exe files straight from the device?

Exactly, you put the SC or device onto your PC and start the little EXE file - it will then do exactly what home would do and update the GPS related files.
The missng files will be added after the first update and frm there it should look like Home did it.
Not more than on option to avoid firing up Home ;)
