Yes, I read it all. Just been back and read it again to make sure. One thing: I used the "browse" command to select the TomTom - drive F - and it created a second map folder inside the first. I moved all the files to the first one myself. I don't think it works properly using browse.

OK, just repeated the whole exercise with the Australian map 860.3101 and got the same result. The install went fine, it ran FastActivate which appeared to its thing properly. This time I set the drive letter to F rather than using browse. Same error message. Ran FastActivate Light v1.8 and the map now works fine.

The only difference between Light & Premium are the 2 options to patch the ttsystem file & TT Home. The map patching function is identical in the 2 versions.

Well, that is a puzzle then.
But thanks for all your help, its all working very well now, except that TomTom Home says I have an invalid version of the application installed on my device.

To fix version error.
Open the ttgo.bif file with Notepad.
Replace lines 9 & 10 with these:
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
"Save as" ttgo.bak
Disconnect & reboot.

Did you mean save as "ttgo.bif"?
I did exactly as you said and now "Home" says "error when contacting server:Forbidden"

No, I meant it exactly as posted. If done correctly, there are 3 files after the reboot: ttgo.bif, ttgo.bak & ttgo.ori.

Problem with activation

Postby emphasis » Fri Feb 25, 2011 7:14 pm

APOLOGIZE IF THIS IS A DUPLICATE POSTING

I have a new TT350SE with a preloaded US/Canada Map that I wish to use with a Europe_Central Europe Map.

My TT Application is 9.151
My Device Code is XXXXXXX
MY Type is gj_2048_TTS

I have deleted the US/Canada Map from device

I have downloaded Europe May 869.3245 to my computer

I have downloaded FastActivate (FAP) Premium v1.8 to my computer

I placed copy of FAP into Europe Map folder and then copied folder to my Device

I opened the FAP in the Map folder on device and ran update meta txt and it worked; did the same for Maps/voices etc; did same for ttsystem and got patched OK; did the same for TTHome.

I disconnected the device from the computer and restarted the device - received error message PROBLEM WITH MAP - You cannot use this map on this device:Europe_Central-297

I connected to TTHome and first checked to see in new map was on both the device and the computer and it was. I then clicked on operate my xl and received the same message.

I have not attempted any further action as I await advice from this forum

Thanks

Jerry

perhaps you could be more helpful by specifying what part of the instructions that applies to this. I've previously indicated that I had read the instructions. Obviously I'm overlooking something
