First Post, COMPLETE noob with a TomTom ONE XL-S

Postby CravinR1 » Sat May 19, 2012 4:06 am

Hello guys I have recently dloaded a torrent with the map 885.4094 for the US for my Tom Tom ONE XL-S (app version 8.010)

The map I currently have is the USA_and_Canada map v715.1712. I backed up my TomTom and put the folder into a rar file so I can fix the tom tom in case I mess anything up.

I am currently copying the 885.4094 US map to the device (USB-PC) and will be running the fastloader. My main questions are:

Should I try to update my app version from 8.010? IF so can someone link me the tutorial and suggest a version for my device?

What is the newest map for North America that will fit on my XL-S ?

I have just found this site and am browsing but alot of confusing information which I hope to grasp as I read more. Thanks for any help in advance, and thanks for taking the time to read this.

We do not support files from unknown sources.
890 maps are due shortly.
It is entirely up to you wether you change the Navcore or not.

What are the benefits of updating the Navcore?

What is the jdownloader? Seems the free slots are taken when I try to get the 885_4094 for US & Canada that you have listed here.

Sorry I'm just overwhelmed by all the information available here

Also how do you know which map to use for a device?

I suggest you check our tutorial section to get some basic info.
No free slots is a commonproblems since the collaps of Magaupload and only retrying will help unless there is a mirror posted.
Compatibilty chart can found in the map threads.

I downloaded the automatic installer for 9.205 and it still says 8.01 when I click the signal icon and it shows the navicore.

Do I need to delete everything from my tom tom and reinstall the navicore 9.205 from scratch and then reinstall the 885.xxxx map I download from here?

If the NC is installed correctly it won't show up as 8.01.
But yes, best way is to have a backup, delete all from the devcie and perform a clean install.

I'm getting a error which states:

TTGO.BIF or TTNAVIGATOR.BIF is present in the root of your TomTom Drive

Start TomTom once to create a new TTGO.Bif or TTNavigator.BIF

The battery was low for some reason (was plugged to pc USB port) and it wouldn't boot without it being connected to PC. IS this the problem?
