F&H G422 TT7 7.450 - No Maps Found

Thu Jun 16, 2011 1:00 pm

I have installed TT 7.450 and Europe West 870.3514 map on a micro SD which is the same setup as my Navigo but when the TomTom software starts I get the No Maps Found screen. I have used a tt7_keygen to produce the Europe_West-366.meta.dct for the machine (exactly as with the navigo - which works fine) but the G422 will not load the map. Does anything on the G422 have to be edited to get TT7 to find the location of the map? Or am I doing something wrong? The blurb on the Ebuyer site says it has Microsoft Win CE.NET 6.0 Operating System - does this have a bearing?
Would appreciate some advice on getting this otherwise great machine running TT7.

Yes, I've tried and failed to get Tomtom working on this device as well, Most WinCE 6 devices do not run Tomtom successfully, Sometimes you can use the mortscript hack to get it working to a degree, but it adds more problems than it solves, I recommend iGO (Primo) on these devices.

Thanks for your reply Fatboyfun. I have made a little progress .. by changing the Hkey_Local_Machine\System\Explorer\Shell Folders\My Documents oldvalue \My Documents to newvalue \SDMMC\My Documents using CeRegEditor and storing the map in the My Documents folder on the SDMMC card the map is now found. TomTom now starts but only runs for about ten second before quiting back to the menu. Does anyone know of any further registry edits that will keep TomTom running? I really would like to use TomTom because of the POIs which can be imported for geocaching!

As far as i know there is no way to make Tomtom run properly on this device, There is a version of Tomtom for WinCE 6 double DIN devices that uses Mortscript to change registry entries and delete some config files around before it starts but you will be unable to save any favourites and some other preferences, But [Please Register or Login to download file] will convert OV2's to any other format allowing their use on other programmes.

I am obtaining iGO as you suggest and will give it a try. The maps seem to be huge so I'll need a bigger card.
Out of curiosity I have loaded a copy of TomTom 6.0 with a UK map from some archive stuff I have on my computer and it works perfectly!
The trouble with this solution is that the maps date from 2007. Is there a way to get TT6 to read later maps?

Tomtom 6 works on a lot more devices than 7 does, but it's far too much out of date to be of any use now, The later maps are not compatible.

Thanks for all your help.
Now got iGo Primo loaded and working, just need to figure out how to import the Geocaches into it!

If they're just .ov2 files then use POIEdit that i linked to in post #4.

This converts any type of POI file into any other type, And it batch converts...

I found POIEdit very confusing - It suggests that the file format for iGo is .UPD which is ignored when placed in the Userdata/poi folder.
Better to use POIConverter to transfer the geocache pocket query .gpx file to a .kml file which is compiled by iGo and displayed on the map.
Job done!
Thanks again for all your help.
