Go300 - Unable to find Postcodes

Tue Mar 15, 2011 10:59 pm

I updated to Navcore 8.412.1236 and map V845.2647 and the satnav works fine, but I've never used postcodes before.

I now need to use the postcode function. When I go Navigate to/address/postcode and enter the UK postcode nothing happens, there is no 'Done' button?

Any suggestions please?

LATEST POSTCODES Version 865 (GREAT BRITAIN, NEDERLAND & SINGAPORE) Postcode v865

Extract and copy the "Zip" folder to the root of your TomTom.

Tried the suggested solution, didn't fix it.

My problem appears slightly different to the one the fix is for. I'm not limited on the number of digits I can enter in the postcode field, I can fill the line up with digits!

But after I've entered them the device just sits there and nothing happens, should there be a 'Done' icon or something to tell it i've finished entering the postcode?

Thanks

Rod

After you enter the Postcode (however many digits of it really doesn't matter) in the window below the postcode line is a list of roads with that postcode - select the one you want. THAT is your 'done' action so to speak. Then you're asked for the house/building number.

It's very odd, after I enter the full postcode I get a list of the first three/four digits of the postcode, then a list of place names all starting with the first letter of the postcode, but not local places?

I've tried various postcodes and the same happens.

Could it be when I went from App. 7.902 to 8.412?

Have you considered a current 865 map, since yours is 4 editions out of date?

I'm now having the same issue, where will I find the postcode zip for 885.4009 UK & republic of Ireland please?
EDIT: Nevermind I've found them on the top of the map download page, Maybe someone should make a sticky as there was quite a few topics when I put it into search.:rolling:

Ok so I found the zip file for the 885 maps, downloaded the zip file, copied it to my tomtom, extracted the files into the root and it still doesn't work. Should these files be in the map folder?

Nevermind, I worked out they need to be extracted to a folder called zip which did not exist.

2. which did not exist.

1. Which is clearly stated in the download instructions: Extract and copy the "Zip" folder to the root of your TomTom.
2. No, it didn't exist. WinRAR creates the folder when you unzip the files.

When I opened the zip file, clicked "extract to" and chose the location it just extracted the 4 postcode files which is why it didn't work. When I put it into the root folder of my tomtom and chose extract here then it created the folder.
I know it may seem like second nature to regular users of this site but I guess it was just down to lack of knowledge that there should even be a postcode folder.
Just thought maybe editing the post to make it clearer would stop noob questions.

But on another note, kudo's on the good work ;)

1. I don't know how it could be any clearer than, "Extract and copy the "Zip" folder to the root of your TomTom".
2. Thanx.
3. The TT Team sez, "Thanx for the kudo".
