Currently running truck map on it with sd card, but have got a bit confused over the right updated map and navcore for the actual unit. At the moment i have uk/ireland 860 3124 with nav 8.351. can i update the map or do i need to update navcore as well.

The Navcore is fine and support a features for the maps, no need to change if you're happy with it.
