GO720 gives me a headache

Sun Nov 15, 2015 4:24 pm

I've been trying to copy a new map on a GO720 for 5 days now, without any success at all! I can't imagine what am I doing wrong, I've read many different tutorials, I've read posts about troubleshooting, including this: A freshly installed map is not working, I've tried at least 5 different maps, and nothing! I checked charts, most of the maps I tried should be compatible. Could someone help me please?

This is the system i begin with:
DeviceVersionHW= -- GO 720
RamDiskVersion= -- 20090827
BootLoaderVersion= -- 55022
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber= -- 8560
Maps: Eastern Europe v608.0 and Western Europe v705.1480

After some failed attempts, I learned more about how to install a map, and these are the steps I took (after recovering my system) 1. I made an official upgrade with TTH (9.150), 2. I copied the map Europe_955_6746 on the card (TTH recommends this map for my device), 3. I used FastActivate, first 3 options. As a result, i get the message that this map is not supported by my device. I tried to use different tools on it, like EasyUseTools, ydgpatch, and nothing changed.

Than I thought, what if I try another map that I can copy on internal storage. I did a recovery, than an update, I added my maps, I deleted the old Eastern Europe, and copied a new one, 955_6746. Patched & everithing, and I get the same message: this map is not compatible with my device!

I am so frustrated, because I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Does anybody have a clue?

Hi,
It's not your 720 that's giving you the headache ... it's believing in TTH. 955-6746 maps are NOT compatible with your 8560 Navcore. Check the chart in the 955 Map downloads post and you'll see that you should be using 955-6745.

Happy day :023:

forzal has 9.510 installed. 955.6746 is the correct map.

Open the 955.6746 folder and look for a .meta.dct file to confirm the map is patched. If no .meta.dct file, copy FastActivate.exe & a copy of your ttgo.bif file into the 6746 map folder & select option 2. Check again for the .meta.dct file

OMG, I cant believe it's working!!! You were right, the .dct file was missing. Thanks tendriver, you were a huge help :023:
I did the same with map 6746, copied the bif file in the map folder (knowing nothing about checking the .dct file then, maybe this was the problem), but still didn't work. But with map 6745, and with Navcore 8560 IT DOES, and I'm very happy with it :D Thanks again, tendriver, I will remember you on my trips :lol:

1. You are Welcome.
2. Navcore 9.510 & Europe 955.6746 are the current navcore & map setup for your 720.
3. Yes, it works, BUT you are not getting the full utilization of your unit with this setup. I strongly encourage you to try the 9.510 & 955.6746 combo 1 more time. Just make sure you have the 6746 .meta.dct file & have put FastActivate.exe in the 720 root or SD card root, whichever has 9.510 in it, then run option 3 to patch it. I promise you that you won't be sorry that you did!!!
Did I mention that I have a 720??
