I'm surprised your device accepts the 9.205 while still running a V4 bootloader....
You can use any 880.3810 map from the map thread to get the current version.
If you like it simple take a version with automatic installer.

app 9.205.547817.1
os 547200
gps v1.20
boot 4.8600

Darn, he was faster again.....

Did you attempt to load a 880.3810 map?

No NAVITOTAL download requires you to download ilivid or anything else.

If you are downloading a map from here All New Maps 880.XXXX it appears that the only thing you have done wrong, is not read the download instructions in post 1.

After several months of perfect working my 910 has been reduced to a paperweight by my 8 year old nephew!

He tried to change the voice and since then it won't switch on.

It gets as far as the TomTom logo and stays there.

I have tried resetting it with a needle and then holding the start button for 5 seconds - that brings up a black screen with small white writing with info on it but then when that goes off it goes to the TomTom logo again and no further.

Any advice please?

1. I doubt that you have a "permanent" paperweight.

2. Was he trying to make the voice change with the unit's Change preferences or with the unit connected to a PC??

3. I would start over by removing the current contents, then re-install my working backup. Next I would reload & patch the new stuff, just like I did the first time.

If your HDD has not failed I assume you have not done the reset properly.
Holding the start button when the device starts gives you the infoscreen from Linux, that is normal.
Hold the reset button for 30+ sec,
connect the TT to the PC,
turn on the TT - it should now connect directly to the PC.
If you can see your TT as a drive letter and you can access the files you have almost won ;)
Delete all files and folders, except:
ttgo.bif
the map folder
the folders "vioces", "LoquendoTTS", "schemes", "gns" and "ephem"
If you still use original Navcore update the device using Home and after that patch the Navcore Using FastActivate premium.
If you already use a newer NC re-install it as before, confirming to overwrite existing files.

Edit: @Tendriver: something is wrong here, the postings are no longer updated correctly, I reloaded the thread in a new window just before hitting save and your posting was not here, after I saved my posting yours appeared before mine.

@ Downunder,

He had it updated (both map & navcore) & running until his nephew played with it. It is just a matter of properly reloading everything like he did the first time.

Thanks for the info, than he won't have a problem of getting it running :)

Oh yes he will!

I wiped clean the tomtom so it didn't have anything at all on it ( which may be the problem.)

Then I connected up to tomtom home and installed the latest software for go910. I have a feeling it said it was only 6.525 or something similar instead of 7.903 but I am not sure how to check this out now.

Then I loaded Western and Central Europe 880.3810

followed by

SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices

These loaded fine and when I started it up again, all seemed well.

However I only seem to be able to get 3 digit postcodes instead of 7 which I had previously.

Help appreciated, thanks
