Help Installing TomTom Software on GPS UNIT Eonon 1025A

Postby boyo0704 » Sat Aug 25, 2012 6:35 am

Hi All, I am trying to install any kind of tom tom software on my in car dvd/gps unit. Its a single din Eonon 1025 model that is running WIN CE5 (I think, How can I tell?). I have downloaded tom tom navigator 6 and copied it to the SD card. I have tried running on my device but it fails to run. The gps unit came with POLNAV maps but they are crap and i really want to use tom tom. Does anyone have a how to guide or can explain it please? I have a tom tom go 720 and have succesfully downloaded australian maps and have them working. Can I copy the maps from the go 720 to the SD card to use with TOMTOM 6? ANy help would be greatly appreciated

TT 6 is so outdated that you won't find any working maps for it ;)

Copy all files to the device, run the exe, post resulting text file here.

I have said this many times before. TT is not recommended for WinCE. You should look to iGO. Read this http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?932-Xtyler92-s-opinion-about-what-GPS-Software-is-the-best
He deleted TT from his WinCE device because it wasn't so easy and good to use. Especially updating. Just saying.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

You can say it as many times as you like, it won't help ;)
I already gave up on it for the same old reasons:
User is just a collector that needs to have as many GPS programs as possible.
User has not done the homework and still thinks TT for CE is an up to date piece of software.
And of course you still have the odd user that simply like the interface....

Hi All, I have just run the exe file like you suggested and here are the results

DEVICE INFORMATION.
Screen resolution 480x234
Windows CE 5
Free / Total RAM available 37652 KB / 45012KB

AVAILABLE DRIVES GREATER THAN 128MB. (Free / Total)
NOTE: Mortscript only reads up to 2047MB
\Storage Card (1096MB/1875MB)

GPS INFORMATION.
Port=1
Baudrate=38400

Will tomtom software work on this? if not i am happy to try IGo8. Its just i have never used that software and would prefer tomtom. Thanks for the info to get to this stage.

Don't see why it wouldn't work. Try here: http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?8018-Run-Tomtom-on-Mio-Moov-and-Navman-S-series-%28and-some-F-series%29-in-ten-steps
Then scroll down to:
Why does it say 'Tomtom Navigator.exe is not a valid Windows CE application'?
This is common on lower spec devices!
Use this version of Tomtom instead.
Completely replace the navigator folder with this one. (Password: navitotal)
Or you can install iGO 8 from here instead (Link at top of page)

and click on "use this version of Tom tom instead" You will also need a basic map for whatever country you need.

Hi NRT, I followed that thread you mentioned and i got further that i have before but it still freezes. I launched the tomtom navigator.exe file and the tom tom image came up on the screen but it just gets stuck on that page?? it doesnt give me any options to select anything. Also i cannot get back to the root directory on the device as it is now stuck on the tom tom page. I cant even revert back to the old polnav maps.

Surely you can reboot the gps to get back to the way it was. Did you download the correct map and patch it?

I have an australian map v855_2938 but i dont think they are compatable. maybe thats the reason for the unit to freeze. i have reset the unit now and is back to normal. Do you have a link to the correct australian maps for that software? I have the patching tool as i have used it for my tomtom go 720 succesfully.

Cheers
