Just bought a XXL 540 , 2 maps inside (I deleted them from PC), .. I deleted everything, and didn't WRITE DOWN the device code.

I copied back the system, but no maps ( I deleted all maps). Now is there a way I can know the device code?

Because I need this device code to make a map work on this device. I have no map now.

Are there any free map so that I can get into the system to view the device code?
Or my tomtom is a dead brick?

If you deleted too much, rebuild a 9.541 navcore first and patch it.

What area coverage do you need (according to memory size and known metacode) ?
Only then look at TTActivator for a map download and activate.

No need for a 10 digit device code.
