Help needed for a Go 500 with weird colours

Postby skinnyhead » Wed Apr 06, 2011 11:51 am

Hi guys,
New to this forum so please excuse me if I've posted this in the wrong place.

I have a problem with a TT Go 500, it worked fine, run navcore 8.414 with no problems - did everything that I wanted it to do...happy camper all round.

About 2 weeks ago it fell off the dash and smashed the screen - boohoo tears all round...not to give up the ghost on it, I bought a dead one off fleabay with a good screen.
So on the weekend took the 500's to bits, fitted the replacement screen without too much trouble and booted it up..
It boots up fine did all it's meant to do but the colours are all over the place, greens seem to be purple, reds are blue etc, it's just a mess.

I think I've killed it good and proper...
I did the usuall reset etc but nothing..

Just wondered if anyone has had a similar problem and knows how to fix it.
Or is it time to buy a new one

Thanks in advance for any help

D.

Make sure you have the same model of screen, check on the back!
Sometimes the contacts for the flat cables can be tricky to clean.
I use an eraser to clean the contacts on the cable (the blue ones with a bit of sand in it are perfect) and the contacts on the board with 600 or 800 grid sand paper (little strip and always in and out).
Check the contacts on the circuit board as well, you might have one or two broken on the connector. If so resolder with a fine tip and make sure not produce a shortcut.
