Im new here and I have a lot of questions. I searched a lot but I didnt find a tutorial for the TT XL
**** So, this could be the tutorial for the XL users.
first off all this is the configs of my TT:
DeviceVersion HW=XL
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9465
TTSystem 4509592 bytes,
PNDNavigator 8172416 bytes,
BootLoaderVersion=55274
RDS/TMC 'mctx.dat' size 212 bytes
CurrentMap=Iberia
CurrentMapVersion=885.4009
Now the pain. xD
1st. What is the diference between map versions? v7 v8 and v9 and which on is the better for my device.
2nd The Navcore, do I need to install a new one? if yes which one?
3rd how do I do this step by step? (explanation for dummies, because Im noob in GPS systems hehe)
4th Is there any risk in doing that like TT briking or someting like that?
Hope you can help me and other with the same problems..
Thank you very much! :D
Welcome to Navitotal's TomTom section.
You may have searched, but certainly not a lot. There are so many different TT models, that it is impossible to post tuts that are device specific. The Tutorial Section has at least 5 or 6 threads that are revelant to your XL.
"General Discussion About TomTom" has pages & pages full of your same 4 questions with answers.
**** Probably not!!
1. Maps XXX.XXXX. The first 3 digits are map Editions, ie 890 Edition, 895 Edition, 900 Edition etc. New Editions are released every 3 months. The current 900 Edition was released on 11/15, a week & a half ago. The last 4 digits are different versions of an Edition. The different versions are needed to accommodate the features of the many different models.
2. No. Navcore 9.465 is as current as you can get.
3. Look in the 900 map thread for the map that you want. Confirm that it is available, usable & compatible with your navcore. For Iberia, the answers to all 3 requirements can be found in post 1. Download & unzip your map choice. Use Windows Explorer "copy & paste" to make a back up of your current setup. Remove the old map folder, copy in the new map folder. Patch both navcore & map with
FastActivate Premium 1.8.9.0 Updated 20.11.2012. Disconnect & reboot. Done!!
4. To our knowledge, Navitotal has never bricked a TT!!
