Help on upgrade

Postby tomtomjet13 » Fri Apr 05, 2013 9:20 am

Hi I Have an Old One Xl which i would like to upgrade now as it has become faulty.
I have tried to do some research and found out the i need to stick to a NAV2 model that has an SD Slot that i can carry my maps on without the need of a laptop most of the time.
i cannot find a comprehensive list that gives me this information.
Can someone please tell me the last Nav2 models (WinCE which uses allows us to see all files on pc) must have an sd or micro sd slot for maps and the larger screens 4.3 minimum.
Your help would be appreciated

1 : forget about your research ;)
2 : if you want a replacement upgrade I suggest to get a 720 or 730, as an alternative a 530 or 520
Avoid anything with a 6, like 630, they are rare and complicated.
If you need a device with live services and are willing to pay for the service (no other alternative) you can opt for a 740, but IMHO it is not worth it.

Everything else from the old models like ONE (no matter which ONE model) or XL is a no win situation as you won't gain a thing.
All models from end 2009 on can't be modified anymore, this includes for example the START and VIA models as well as newer GO models like the 820, 1000 and so on.

Look for a device in this order: 520, 530, 540, 550, 720, 730, 740, 750, 920, 930, 940, 950. This order goes from cheapest to more expensive. With a few mods & tweaks, the cheapest can do almost everything the more expensive can, except Live Services.
Downunder has a 730, & I have a 720.
