I have accidentally updated thanks to tomtom home 2 to the new navicore, all maps stopped working so i used the 1.8.8.9 patcher to sort them out, but what a mess

The menu wont go past first page, messages and buttons display incorrect names or garbage. For instance the connect to computer is now connect to phone.

Not sure how to fix it all now.

Clearly your Navcore was not installed correctly and FA could not make that mess for you.
To fix simply remove all from the device (make a backup!) except the map folder and your voices,
connect to Home and update until you got the 9.430 Navcore installed,
patch the Navcore using FA and you are good to go.

I might retry it. I managed to find an old backup and restore it to an almost useable version. Navcore is well old. But I might retry this again.

1. Downunder was just eliminating FA as a possible cause.

2. May I suggest you download load 9.430 [Please Register or Login to download file] & [Please Register or Login to download file]
Load the .cab files over you current navcore, overwriting any common files. Then load the pre-patched ttsystem & model.Txt files in the 2shared.com download, overwriting the current ttsystem file. Disconnect & reboot.
