Help with sound edit.

Postby weblst » Sat Jan 29, 2011 10:12 pm

I have a tomtom XL250 (new one) and I like the easymenu BUT I wish to turn off the speeding alert beep and ONLY the speeding alert. I want to leave the speed camera and other alert beeps in place. I was thinking I could find the sound file and overwrite it with a blank but I have no idea how to go about this (pretty sure it is in data.chk or something). The navcores on this site have an advanced alert preferences item and that would be a great option as well. ANy ideas ooh learned ones....

Thanks.

Edit: I was thinking an option to change the overspeed amount would also work. Like if I was doing 65 in a 50 zone it would beep but not if I was doing 60 in a 50 zone. The reason I want this is because the AU has a 50k limit in built up areas (unless otherwise signed) but tomtom is inaccurate with a lot of its speeds so I get a bong bong all the time around town.

Are you referring to TomTom cams or 3rd party cams?

Yes the tomtom built in cams I wish to keep that sound. I am trying to disable the speeding alert sound but if I turn off alerts it disables ALL alert sounds. tomtom speeds around town are not very accurate and I keep getting beeps for speeding when I am not.

In a device with a full menu, it's Main Menu, TomTom services, Safety Alerts, Change warning preferences.

Yep but the XL250 has the easystart menu so you can disable alerts but it disables ALL alerts. Also the only working navcore from this site has easystart menu. I do not have a full menu and have been trying to find a workaround.

1. I'm well aware that you have a short menu. That is why I opened my reply with "In a device with a full menu".
2. There is a fix. Convert to a full menu.

1: OK Sorry for that.
2: I have tried the full menu hack from this site but it has no tomtom services incorporated that I can see. I had wished to use the latest V9 navcore but sound does not work on my device if I install any other than the easymenu one. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Do me a favor. Download, unzip & copy the SdkRegistry folder in the attachment to the root of you device. See if it gives you a full menu. If not, just delete it.

It works like a charm. I have a XL 255 ( China version of XL250 ), after I put the SdkRegistry folder @ root, then it comes with full menu ;)

There was an icon to setup time in simple menu, after convert it into full one, I am not able to find it.... ( you can only have chance to setup time when reset to factory). Anyone knows how to adjust time, where? Thx.
