I have had a go510 for a long while now ( about 10 years i think).

Replaced the battery once as it wasn't keeping the charge

I have also updated the bootloader so that I could use a bigger SD card.

I initially updated the navcore from V7 to V8. and installed some version8 maps. But I noticed that the V8 navcore kept locking the tomtom when the device was rebooting ( when I turned the engine off it would shut off ok but when I started the engine back up it wouldbn't restart and I would have to do a reset by the pin at the back).

So I reversed the update and re-installed V7 navcore with the latest maps for the time.

Last week, having gotten fed up of the out of date map, I found the navcore V9.55 with auto start ( not sure what the auto start is as mine has always started up as soon as the car was turned on even with V7?!)

I downloaded the latest UK maps and it all worked ok, ButI noticed that it kept locking up again with V9 and had to do a reset a few times.

Today, It has locked up and I am not able to even reset it:

Press power button
Press reset at the back so the light comes on
Keep pressed in for 20 seconds
Release button
Release reset
Press power for 5-15 seconds.

But nothing happens!

I am not able to restart it.

I am going to keep trying and see if I can get it to reset and work again and roll back to V7 as I found that was the most stable version.

Any ideas why it keeps locking and am I doing it right to reset?

ok, I managed to get my TTgo up and running again. It maybe that it wasn't fully charged as when I connected it to the dock, it came on straightaway!

but I do like to get to the bottom of the freezing with Navcore 9.

What is the Auto power on in that version?

I have noticed a few times that when I have got to my car, and opened the door, the satnav was already on! But with the Navcore 7 I never noticed that and it would only come on when ignition was turned on.

I am now thinking maybe it is coming on when it shouldn't, it is draining the battery and that's why it seems maybe it is not working and locking up but in fact it is running out of charge.

Somehow my version9 map is working with my V7 navcore! strange! But as i am using the satnav literally to guide me to places, and no need for all other features, am happy to keep it as it is now and use the new map with old navcore!

It has 16Mb Ram.

I agree. Personally I'd try the official NC 9.510, as depending on where you got your copy of the same NC, it could have problems as some modded NC's have been known to have

No, if you check the map compatibility chart here, you'll see that map 955.6801 works with ALL NC's from 7.8xx onwards.

Sorry, my mistake. Yes it is go710. Strangely for the past 10 years I always thought it was a 510!

I will try the official 9.5 from here and try that and see what I get.
