Help with TomTom ONE 3rd Edition

Postby Downunder35m » Mon Aug 16, 2010 1:57 am

Before you post something like adding a switch to an old One you should at least note that only a few devices out of the One3rd family can be modified to use a SD card.
This not a job for a noob - you need to know what you are doing when it comes to soldering on SMD circuit boards....

I've tried several versions of 9 Navcores for the TT One V3 (512mb & 1Gb versions) and Also the TT One V4. Most have had problems with the squashed Menubar, and various TTS problems (mainly speed).

Did you use emu x40light or x40light2 or 3?

@ Downunder35m: Yeah man, you're right it's not a job for a complete Noob, but it's not really that dificult for anyone with a T8 torqx driver and a steady hand. If you use an old floppy drive cable the pitch is perfect too.
There's two types of floppy cable, a single core version, that won't solder, and a multi-strand core that solders well (use this one).

The switch, yes ONLY One V3, 512mb or 1Gb, i know that both of these can definately be done as I've now done two 512's and a 1Gb too. As far as i know it's only the V3's that have these pins on the mobo.
I wasn't really suggesting that the guy do this himself, i was just adding that as a general note for those that are interested in Dual boot options. Not trying to step on any toes here.

@ Tendriver: Hmmm, Sorry mate i can't remember, was a while ago now (i assume you mean with the SE navcores). For the Dark Mirielle version i'm running x30. x40 works fine but there's lots of menu items that don't pertain to the lowly V3 (bluetooth, docking etc).

Cheers Guys. Keep up the good work.

Is it fair to say that your conclusions about 9 Navcores on a TT ONE may be based on incomplete testing & data? BTW, I appreciate your 2p worth.

Yep, Thats's fair to say. I didn't test anything with a 9.051 SE Navcore on the One V3. But i'd be willing to give it a go if you like.
Have you guys tried the Dark Mirielle Navcore on a One V3? I'd be interested on your thoughts on it.

May I suggest that such hard cases will posted here as well?
I know it will take time, but this way it will possible for other noobs to see which Navcores will work on their devices.
I will try to update the chart at least 2 times a month - if there is enough feedback for that.

OK Folks, I'll download all the 9 Series Navcores and give them all another go with my Lowly V3. I think I've got the image post sussed, so here's a few for your perusal.

Here's my first test rig, trying to figure out the Dual Boot Switch.

[img][Please Register or Login to download file] [/IMG]
Here's the switch glued in position. I've removed a plastic web and drilled the hole through and filed it square.

Closeup from outside.

[img][Please Register or Login to download file] [/IMG]
Floppy drive cable link, before wiring up switch (this is my 'good' unit).

Switch Wired in.

Wires at SDHC Adaptor end.

TomTom One V3 Happily running 9.051 Mirielle Edition. Boot Loader 5.5237 (came with 9.051).
Please Note: I've since added Johurts Altitude program too, but haven't done a screen shot yet. Will take one tomorrow and update post.

I'll try and get some free time and write a full tutorial (not that easy, I've got very small children...) But the pictures tell 1000 words eh.

Good Luck All.

Kersh Out.

We appreciate your help, but there is no need to download ALL of the 9s. Just the ones previously mentioned. Thanx

OK, Here's the story so far.

Tested in a 1Gb TomTom One V3

9.025.one2009_plus_tts.CAB-navcore-ONE.cab
Plus
SE_ttsystem.9025.477770.rar

X40 : Runs Fine, Bit slow to start up each time. But it has the same problems with the squashed Status Bar. Also, there's no MP3 Player in the Media/Photos menu?

X40light: Runs Fine. Quicker to start up. Again no MP3 Player, But the Status Bar is fine, but it's the Old School 2-sided Bar, Not the New 3-bar.

Note: Menu Shots Below are for X40light, I didn't think the camera was working on the X40 as it wasn't making any sound?....So i didn't bother taking any shots.

I'll do the 9.026 tomorrow, but i think it'll be the same outcome really.
Cheers

Cheers

As i said in previous posts you can not run a v9 navcore properly as you will get the squashd status bar if the navcore aint an officiall for that device and the light switches will give you the old look bar and loose some features. the only alternative is the Mirelle navcore or an other special optimised for 3.5" screen but i got no experiance using these, but i do know you might loose some features for using them.

Please give the "self" version from [Please Register or Login to download file] a go.
Password : downunder
Install all files and folders from the archive to an empty device (you can leave the mapfolder and the ttgo.bif).
After the first start you will see one reboot - that is normal and should not be interrupted!
You should get the 3pane status bar but I can not promise if you get MP3 as well.
Don't try to change the emulation as it won't work properly in this release - it is optimised to be used as it is.
If you encounter problems with the menu like missing icons or wrong icons : connect to Home and download the Home dll files (Operate my One) - copy all files with "data" in the filename (from inside the DLL folder) to the root of your device.
Let me know if you had any luck or problems on the way.

There's a problem with your link,
Link No.2 9.025Extra_ONE_X50.rar - Says "This file has been removed from the server, because the file has not been accessed in a long time."

The other one came down though.

I was afraid that would happen to the upload (I should have known better:( ).
Please try this [Please Register or Login to download file] instead.
I just uploaded the 9.026 - use the "self" version for your device please - same instructions as above ;)
