Help with TomTom XL One and installing/patching NavCore and

Postby Miyagi » Thu Jan 20, 2011 1:15 am

Firstly, what an awesome website full of resources and people willing to give up their time to help others. I stumbled onto this website and was impressed and amazed!!!

My issue:
I have a TOMTOM ONE XL which had the following specs:
Navcore 7.162
OS 2327
GPS V1.21
Boot 5.3026

What I have done:
1. Format internal memory (I realise now after reading other posts that I should not have!)
2. Downloaded (from this forum) Navcore 8.562 SE
3. Extracted and copied onto TOMTOM internal root
4. Downloaded (from this forum) fastactivate.exe
5. Copied onto TOMTOM internal root, ran it and activated ttsystem
6. Disconnected TOMTOM from computer and turned on, it went through start up including selecting language, right hand, km/miles etc. What is strange is that I could not see the bullet points next to selection items or the scroll arrows when selecting a language, instead I can only see small squares.
7. At the end it said 'No maps found'
8. Downloaded (from this forum) Australia 860.3101 maps
9. Extracted and copied map folder onto TOMTOM internal
10. Copied fastactivate.exe into Map folder, ran it and activated maps
11. Disconnected TOMTOM from computer and started
12. It goes through all the initial preference set up again, allows me to select the map
13. It then freezes for about 10 seconds and restarts, repeating step 12 & in an endless loop.

I deleted all the files and started again from step 3. It still freezes and restarts but now all I see is the TomTom Logo on the screen, I can't turn it off or connect to computer. Currently waiting for the power to die and hopefully can connect it to the computer again.

Can anyone give me advice on what I have done wrong or what I should do next?
Also, how do decide which NavCore and Maps version to use? There are so many!!

I selected Navcore 8.562 SE and Aust Maps 860.3101 as I read somewhere that it would operate the quickest on my TOMTOM One XL (32mb) with the most features.

2. Not the best choice
4. OK
5. Big Mistake. The ttsystem is already patched in SE navcores.

To get you going again.
1. Delete everything on your internal except the new map folder.
2. Copy your backup, except the old map folder, onto your unit.
3. Go here: TomTom Automatic Navcore Installation Read the instructions carefully!!!! Select: SE_Navcore.9.205.547817_32mb_devices.rar (Widescreen ONLY)
4. Install 9.205 overwriting any common files.
5. You have already patched the 860 map. Do not touch it anymore.
6. Disconnect & reboot.

Thanks for the advice, why are you recommending NavCore 9.xxx? I have been warned that it will run too slow on my 32mb TOMTOM especially when recalculating routes....

Why are you questioning my advice? You have been given an incorrect warning. The title of the download should be sufficiant.
