How to download the specific option from a given zone (from

Hi everyone,

I hope I'm not going to ask a question that you've answered many times, but I don't think that's the case, because I've already done some research on this and other forums and I haven't found the answer.

If there is already a simple answer to my question, don't hesitate to link me.

I know that there are several maps and that each has a different coverage. The different maps and their coverage can be viewed here:

I know that for some maps, they are divided into several zones. The different zones from a maps and their coverage can be viewed here:

I have already downloaded maps and map zones several times to update several TomTom : this is not a problem for me.

According to this same page about the zones ([Please Register or Login to download file] ), there are also different options for the different zones.

How do I know if I am downloading option 1 or option 2 or ... from a given zone?
How do I found the right file to download the specific option from a given zone (from a given map)?

Europe
for this map, the countries included in each map zone vary depending on your device. Both of the available options are listed below. If you have a map of Europe on your account, you can find out which map zone coverage applies to your device by connecting it to TomTom HOME. If you have enough space to install the full map, this covers the same countries on all devices.

So you need an official map you have bought.
Then you can figure out which country in which zone.

So, if I understand correctly, if, for example, I buy the map Europe, I will have the following 5 zones:

• Southern zone
• Northern zone
• Western zone
• Eastern zone
• Southwestern zone

Now, if I want to install the zone Central zone, the program TomTom HOME will:

1. by default, install the Option 1;
2. if there is no enough space for Option 1, install the Option 2;
3. if there is no enough space for Option 2, install the Option 3.

Is that right?

If someone buys the map Europe and installs the zone Central zone and his program TomTom HOME installs the Option 3, as it is a genuine map, this person can :

1. create the meta.txt file with option "5. "RunMeForCode (Create a meta/blowfish code from a genuine map)" into FastActivate;
2. archive the folder of the map folder created on his TomTom including the meta.txt file;
3. share the archive.

Then I can :

1. download the archive;
2. extract the content from the archive to my TomTom;
3. activate the map with FastActivate.

In this case, I should have option 3 of zone Central zone of the map Europe.

Is that right ?

Another question is, if a zone from a map is available to download, how can I know which option it is?

For example, if I download the file Europe Zone Central 1015 9107 from this thread, will I get the Option 1 or Option 2 or Option 3 from the zone Central zone of the map Europe?

To my knowledge you don,t get the option 1,2 or 3 that is why I said you have to buy a map. To my knowledge depending on the device, you got those options. Till now I have not seen a map on this forum with those options. If somebody gives one off those maps then it can be activated if the meta is available let's say from Europe zone Central.

It's amazing, it hasn't happened yet.

As the size of the maps increases with each new version, the size of the zones of the maps also increases while the size of the memory of the devices does not change. We must therefore have more and more cases where option 1 can no longer be installed.

I think this happens especially for devices with 1 GB of memory.

@All:
Do any of you have a zone from a purchased map that has been installed on a device with 1 GB of memory? If so, is it possible to compare the coverage observed on the device with that reported on [Please Register or Login to download file] to see if he/she has option 1 or option 2 or option 3 and provide the name of the map shown on the device?

You're right, I'm searching some maps that fit into the memory from a TomTom XL 330 (TomTom 30 Series). The space left on the device with only the navcore installed and 1 voice is about 932 MB (according to what I remember, but I can check if necessary).

I will check you suggestion.

It is because I was searching for such a map that I found that there different options for some zones from some maps. I think it is possible to download the specific option from a given zone and maybe one of the option is smaller and fits onto TomTom devices with low memory space.

For example, if I check on [Please Register or Login to download file] and [Please Register or Login to download file] , the different possibilities that are containing countries "France + Germany + Luxembourg + Switzerland" are:

The problems are:

• Is it the option 1 or the option 2 of the zone Western zone from the map Europe?
• Maybe it is the option 1 and the size is 1.16 GB and we could find the option 2 which could have a smaller size?

I mentioned it before I have never seen a map with option 1,2,or 3 on this forum and
till now nobody has contributed such a map to the forum.

I think it is almost impossible to install a good map on a 1GB device on a few simple after such as Benelux for example.
But it is possible that with a little bit of fitting and measuring and omitting the poi file, if there is no objection,
a map can be made, unfortunately it is highly dependent on which meta codes are available.
Where will you drive most of the time ?

But as a result I don't understand why TomTom's site mentions the options on [Please Register or Login to download file] .

• France
• Germany
• Luxembourg
• Switzerland

If I'm right the different possibilities where those countries are included are those maps or zones of a map:

Regarding the possibility C, I already looked for the map "[Please Register or Login to download file] " a few weeks ago, but I hadn't found it. I had looked through the maps v1015 and v1010/1011 and I hadn't even found it without a meta file.

Did you or someone else already see a link to download this map even if it is older than v1015 and v1010/1011?

I'll check if I can find the zones of map of possibilities A and B.
