How to Restore backup manually

Postby b22222c » Mon Aug 03, 2015 4:13 pm

Hi, after update navcore on tomtom Home gps stuck on the inicial screen and dont start.
TTHome make a backup on my computer on a folder called internal memory, could i delete all the folders in the internal memory of the gps and copy all the files i have on the backup to the internal memory of the gps? If i choose to restore from tthome it says that my device does not support that function. Thanks

Yes. This is one of the many reasons why we use TT Home as little as possible.

Usually Home does not make a proper backup, only personal files.
The Navcore is installed through the normal update process and a map, if it was not downloaded to the computer already, will be restored through the account after updating the Navcore.
IMHO it is easier and faster to use one of our Navcore, add a map and to activate it with FastActivate.
Personal files can be restored from your backup.

Remove the image as it shows your device ID.
Just take any of my installers and follow the intructions within.
The V9 Navcores show very little difference that a user can spot, so it does not really matter much ;)

I am preparing the maps, i download this map. I think i must replace the folder of the map in the root with the new map folder correct?
What about the files that come with the map folder like the folder "brand" and the files below like "borders" "city map" etc, should i put in the root or i shouldt use them?

Simply follow the instructions provided and don't start own experiments - then all will work just fine ;)

1. OLD map folder OUT. NEW map folder IN.
2. DO NOT take anything out of the NEW map folder!!

You have a Western_Europe_950_6548 map folder with a copy of the same map folder within itself

The contents of the one you have highlighted should be the same as the contents of parent directory.....if so, delete the folder you have highlighted and then you should be good to go

Agreed, something is wrong with your map installation.
Delete the whole lot and extract the files as they are from the downloaded archive.
The brand folder is within the map folder, but the second map folder should not be there.

ALL of the files and folder in your screenshot, from the 'brand" folder thru the "overview" file, must be in the Western_Europe_950_6548 map folder, which must be in the root of your storage memory.
Before I deleted the whole lot, I would make the corrections mentioned above. If that didn't solve my issues, then I would follow Downunder's suggestion & start over.
