Install seems ok but I can't find the country in the list

Postby cookin » Sat Feb 21, 2015 11:30 am

Hi,

First of all thank you for all the work!

I look for Argentina map. I’ve a GO 720, with ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
MyVersions.txt:
ttgo.bif:
DeviceName=TomTom GO 720
DeviceVersionHW=GO 720
DeviceSerialNumber=M6xxxxxxxxxx
BootLoaderVersion=55120
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9510
ApplicationVersion=1234792.1
CurrentMap=Western_Europe
CurrentMapVersion=720.1803

Map(s):
P:\Canary_Islands\
P:\Western_Europe\

Storage:
Size 1955MB, Free 94MB

I downloaded “Argentina_Mapear_930_5560 with Automatic Installer & Patcher” (on http://www.navitotal.com/topic15548.html), I’ve checked that it should work with my Navcore (9.510) and I downloaded the last FastActivate.exe.

1. I update TT with TomTom Home and backup it.
2. I launch FastActivate (run the .exe, and then? Which option? I did options 1, 2 and 3 – the tutorial just says “Run FastActivate.exe ; Done...”). So “ttsystem file” & “map” should be patched.
3. I launch Argentine Mapear 930.5560_Installer.exe, everything is ok (and the free 94 MB are enough to install it), no error message. When I look in P:\Argentina_Mapear_930_5560 (P: is the TomTom), there is no .dct file created, nor Meta.txt : I guess this is not normal.
4. I reboot my TT: I see no changes, and can’t find Argentina in the list of countries.

Where am I wrong? I think I followed all the steps?

Thank for any help :-)

Clicking 1, 2 and 3 is ok and recommended for a genuine Navcore.
But you should do after you installed the map so it can be activated.
Since you already rebooted the TT we can be sure to have a ttgo.bif file present, run FastActivate again and click 1, 2, and 3 - no harm done if the Navcore should be patched already.
Pay attention to the message you get back from FastActivate and if not working post the error message(s) you got.

Thank you for your answer :) I've run again the FastActivate and did 1-2-3, no error message, but I still can't find Argentina in the list of countries. Nevertheless now the .dtc file is here in the folder P:\Argentina_Mapear_930_5560. Do you have the Navcore and map on the same memory, e.g. on the SD card?
Try to rename the map folder to just Argentina930.
If you have a DCT file the map should work, if it is not listed it means the TT can't find the map files.

May I suggest that you use the current usable Argentina map.

Argentina_Mapear including Uruguay
[Please Register or Login to download file] [42MB] OR
[Please Register or Login to download file]
; Argentina_Mapear 935_5744

Yes they are on the same memory, but it is the internal memory, maybe I missed something here :D Is it supposed to be installed on SD Card only?

@tendriver: thanks I'm downloading and gonna try

Still stuck.
What I don't understand is why the .dct appears only after I've run FastActivate (i.e. first "Argentina_Mapear_935_5744 with Automatic Installer & Patcher" then , then FastActivate).

Isn't FastActivate supposed to be launched first, then the "Argentina_Mapear_935_5744 with Automatic Installer & Patcher"? If I do like this, the .dct is not created...

There is no need for a SD card, since you have room on your internal memory.
No, you install the map first, then run FA.
Download the 935 map without the Installer. Unzip it. Copy FastActivate.exe & a copy of your ttgo.bif file into the unzipped map folder. Run Option 2 only. Remove the "other" 935 map from your 720 & copy this one in. Disconnect & reboot.

Is it normal that the ttgo.bif at the root is unchanged even after the FastActivate?

1. I don't recall instructing you to put a Updated_meta.txt file in the 935 map folder.
2. None of the items, listed in the BIF File......p:\TTGO.BIF, were changed by running FA.

I haven't put it by myself, it appeared there after running the FastActivate.

It was put there, when you ran FA Option 1. I requested that you "Run Option 2 only."
Is the 935 map, by any chance, inside a second map folder, so that when you open the 935 folder, you see nothing but the second folder, which you have to open to see the 935 files?

Sorry I do my best...

I re-do everything from the beginning, sorry but the tutorial is not clear to me.

Very simply, are these the correct steps, from the beginning (using the Automatic map Installer):
1/ A fresh TT from a back up updated with the last version of TT Home (no SD card, everything is on the internal memory of the TT)
2/ Install the map: run Argentina_Mapear_935_5744 with Automatic Installer & Patcher (checking that the path is the root, drive P:)
Result: P:\Argentina_Mapear_935_5744 is created, no .dtc file inside yet.
3/ Copy in P: FastActivate and run it (Option 2)
Result: Argentina_Mapear-100098.meta.dct is created in P:\Argentina_Mapear_935_5744
4/ Disconnect and reboot

I don't know, I'm not totally stupid, normally I've no issues in "advanced IT" :013: But no way to understand what are the steps from a clean TT to a patched TT with a new map... No offence please, but on topic15548.html , on top of the first post, adding the steps numbers for the whole process would help a lot to understand the order of the different actions, and which options should be chosen when running the FastActivate.exe :023:

OK found it...: I didn't know I had to change map in the settings of the TT Menu (I found it by checking every options in the TT menu in case I could find something...). I thought the new country would show up in the countries list, in addition to the EU map I have by default, even if this new country is not part of EU...
Maybe I missed it in the tutorial, but it could be something to underline in the tutorial?

Thank you for the good job on collecting all these maps!

1. If you are only changing or adding a map:
Download & unzip the new map.
Read the FastActivate instructions, then download & unzip: FastActivate Latest Update 01/02/2015 includes a "Version Updater" tool! topic14003.html
Remove the old map folder from your unit [Not required if adding a map]. Copy in the new map folder. Put the FastActivate.exe file in your unit. Run option 2 to patch your new map. Run Option 3 to patch your navcore, if not already patched.. Disconnect & reboot. Done!!
2. You stated numerous times that you couldn't see the new ARG. map in the countries list. To us that meant you were looking in Main Menu, Change preferences, & the Change map menu. Looks like we had a bit of a termanology issue.

Yep maybe, when I wrote the countries list, I meant the list of countries you see when you enter a destination (country > city > address). I didn't event know that there was a setting allowing to change maps, I never had had to change maps before as I always used my TT in Europe.
