Tonight I drove with the new 895 map and noticed at a couple of inner city junctions it showed a split screen with a photo of sorts. Anyone else notice this?

I believe previously this was only available in select regions such as South East Asia.

Map is Australia_895_4438, with Downunder's Navcore 9.450 with memory boost on a Go 930.

If you plan a route demo from Brisbane CBD south it shows photos at a couple of junctions such as the Marshall Rd Exit at Mt Gravatt.

My curiosity asks why did you install Navcore 9.450 with memory boost?

I buy and sell TomToms and always have various units lying about, so tend to trial and compare different navcores. I don't currently have any 32MB devices to test it on.

On the Go series I prefer 9.450 simply as the menus look nicer. On a road test with two Go930s side by side, 9.450 and 9.430 performed exactly the same with direction and route recalculation.

My question was, "why did you install Navcore 9.450 with memory boost"?

I've got news for you!! They are exactly the same!! 9.450 is 9.430 for Asia.

I installed 9.450 to test it. Specifically that version has emulations which is why I prefer the way the menus look over 9.430 for Go x20/x30

So if the base navcores (9.430 and 9.450) are actually the same, I wonder why they released a different version/number just for Asia?

1. EVERY SE version navcore has emulations. Downunder's 9.450 mod is geared for 32mb devices. You gain nothing by using it instead of 9.430, which is the current official navcore for you unit. I am not saying don't use DU's 9.450, but since you buy & sell TTs, it might be a good idea to have a working knowledge of modified navcore.

2. Asia always has a different version/number navcore. V8 & V9 Navcores

I'd like to know too. I googled for a while before posting this thread and came up with almost nothing apart from a couple of references to it in third party advertising for the Via 620. I couldn't see anything obvious on this forum either. Perhaps tendriver can fill us in since he's so knowledgeable!

At this point I don't have an answer, other than the Aussie maps come from a different source, not the Europe map source,TeleAtlas.

South East Asia region have had this feature (split view/dual view with photos) on TomToms for a quite a while.
When it first appeared on my unit I thought it might be to do with the combination of the 9.450 (asia) firmware and new map.

On the demo routes I tried, the split view only showed on a couple of the many intersections that see Advanced Lane Guidance.
Perhaps TomTom are only a very small way into gathering the intersection photos, in Australia at least.

The right side looks more like a computer generated image, than a photo.
