Wed Jan 19, 2011 6:42 am

Hi all

Great forum

With all the tuts on this forum I have TT running on my 2din chinese nav/dvd 800*480 unit. I have always been a garmin man so this is my first go at TT.
Could someone please explain the map numbering system and how to tell the latest maps?
There seems to be a lot of versions available. What's the difference 855 v 860 etc...?
what' the best map for wince5.0?

Cheers Phil....

The 855 and 860, is the issue of the map.
Every 3 months TT update and the number rises by 005, next will be 865 about mid February.
The following 4 digit number is the version of the map, what detail it contains and what navcore it works with. See the chart here http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?3658-All-New-Maps-860.XXXX

TomTom map numbering is in 2 parts;
Part1 - Before the decimal point
Part2 - After the decimal point

For part1 a good rule of thumb is, the bigger the number the newer the map. So 860.xxxx are newer than 855.xxxx

Part2 of the numbering is a little more complicated, bigger numbers do not mean newer maps. The numbers are indicitive of features such as ALG (Advanced Lane Guidance), supported on a particular operating system. xxx.78 will support ALG + IQ routes etc, but will not run on WinCE. However xxx.3126 does not support ALG etc but will run on WinCE devices (in the 860 series).

The best map for you, is the newest map supported by your system, that you can get hold of.

Basically look at the map matrix charts, to find maps that are compatible with your system.

I have a similar WinCE based system, with TT 7.9xx and currently a 860.3126 map.

Hi~~ blackbeard
I use a PPC (WM 6.5) with TT 7.9 and currently a 860.3128 map.

I would like to know for my system what's the difference among 860.3126, 860.3127, 860.3128, and 860.3134? From the map matrix charts, these 4 versions seem the same.

Thanks.

They are basically the same.

For all practical purposes on TT 7.9xx there is no difference, I have tried it.

The different numbers relate to Regional Variations, functionality for earlier TT units, some maps also have some info reduced (road signs etc).

House numbers. Unless you live in Russia or Greece, it doesn't apply to you.

They are basically the same. Regional Variations??? USA & C has a 3126, 3127 & 3128 version.
3126 is mainly for One/XL/Go 300/Go 500/PDA, includes base features
3127 is specifically for the Xl-S
3128 is for the XL (30 Series)TTS/330 S/325 S
3134 is a Argentina_and_Uruguay map
