Go Live 550 keyboard screwy after navcore update

Postby GarySeven » Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:01 pm

Hi
I have an old 'Go-Live 550' and wanted to update the map on it.
I thought i'd better try 'TomTom home' first, so i did and got offered
a navcore update to 9.541, which i installed.
I then looked on this site and found that most maps seem to be compatible
with my device and that navcore, so i downloaded UK&I 1025_9432.
I patched TTHome and my device/map with the latest 'Fast Activate'.
All seemed fine until i tried to type in a postcode. Now if i try and enter,
say a '1' on the onscreen keyboard i get a '2' displayed, this is the same for all
numbers/letters, and the letter/number to the right of what you have pressed
is displayed for everything. Do you think it is that the Go Live 550 cannot use the
9.541 navcore? This would be strange as TomTom offered it to me when I
docked my device? Or could the map i am trying to use be incompatible?
Any help gratefully received, as my 550 now is pretty useless as a SatNav.
Thanks, Gaz.

Ok, the new navcore 9.541 is fine...it is the latest official software for your device

The map you downloaded is ok but it is a basic map and it's from the previous series so it would make more sense to download a newer/better one with more advanced features:

United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland 1030_9519

So, download and install/activate that map and then do a hard reset to clear out the flash memory: hold down the power button for an extended time until you see the BIOS screen...hopefully that'll fix the problem...if not you may need to re-calibrate the screen which can be a PITA

Thanks Fredderf, I downloaded that map and did the hard reset, still had the same problem
with the right hand character (to the one pressed) being displayed.
Googling a bit i found that my screen config is displayed on the bios screen on
a line called:Touchscreen calib. data: 221 825 336 648
and it seems it was now wrong since update.
Advice was to create a file called cal.txt and put it in the root with amended
axis settings in it. I found some for a GO 740 and thought they would be a good starting point
for my GO 550, so I put them in using notepad as:
730 180 656 330
I then did another hard reset and keyboard is now mapping correctly without needing any changes!

If you go back to the old navcore it might be fine, have had the same happen to me.

Ok good, although you were lucky with those settings...that rarely works
