Stupidly tried it myself and got the dreaded error message. Didn't save a backup of my tomtom when it was working so pretty clueless as what to do. Tried using the automatic installer - not sure what version of navcore I have installed. Any help greatly appreciated.

Just United Kingdom, my tomtom can only fit 489MB so think that's all I could get on it - and need.

Download & unzip United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_870_3417 Remove your old UK map folder from your device & copy this new map folder in.

Go here: FastActivate ENG 29.05.2011 {1.8.7.0} Read the instructions. Select the Premium version. Download, unzip & run the .exe. You will see 4 buttons. Run the first 3 from left to right.

Hi, I used the auto installer and used the most recent one instead of the one I had previously used. Everything seems to be working now, but thanks for your help.

One final question though, do I have to patch my tomtom home software on my computer to be able to update (for map fixes etc) or will it be fine if I plug it in?

Thanx for the update. You only have to patch TT Home if you use "Operate my device" emulation/simulation feature. All other TT Home features will function normally.

You are Welcome. Enjoy!!
