Map Font

Postby peebee » Thu Apr 11, 2013 8:59 pm

I expect the answer to this query is likely to be 'No' for all sorts of reasons but is it possible to alter the street name font display ?. I would find it easier to read if they were slightly larger or even in bold.

I am using the 9.500 Rider Navcore with UK 905-4754 map on a TomTom 720.

My turn to make a query. Why are you running Rider 9.500, instead of GO 720 9.465??

Thanks Downunder for the reply, I guessed it wouldnt be possible to change the font but what I have is OK.

Hi Tendriver,

Giving it a try for no other reason than that, ;) particularly as I note Downunder had it installed on his 720 successfully. Its loaded OK and everything seems to be working although I havent road tested it yet. I dont think the font is any different to the 9465 Nav and I always backup 'in case' so that if I need to go back I can.

As regards the font size, I suppose I'm making a case for investing in a Start 60 but I am undecided as to whether that device is going to be as easy to update in the future.

1. No problem, as long as you know that you don't gain anything using it instead of 9.465.
2. You are correct.
3. All premium updates, maps, speedcams etc, for a Start 60 can only be done online through MyTomTom. Important note for new Tomtom models like VIA, Start20/25, Go1xxx - please read!

In actual fact the 9465 is better as it contains an ASR file whereas I found the 9500 didnt. I transferred the ASR from the 9465, used the latest Fastactivate and the speech commands are working OK although I have yet to test it on the road.

Thanx for the update. There was no reason to run FastActive after just copying the ASR file into the 9.500 navcore.

The reason the 9.500 has no ASR files is simple: The Rider has no microphone!
So, nothing about better or worse, just simple facts ;)
It is the same with voices, they are mostly never included (apart from a few standard voices)...
