Map Setting Filename

Thu Jun 14, 2018 1:18 pm

I have several mapsetting.cfg files organized by regions. I have them named mapsettingsFlorida.cfg, mapsettingsCalifornia.cfg and so on. I am only able to use the file named mapsetting.cfg, that's the only file the unit recognizes. Is there a way to be able to select the map setting file on the gps? Currently I have to hook up to a computer and rename the file that I want to use. Thank you.

I am using a go730 and a go930 with navcore 9510 and map 1000.

What is the advantage to have more than one single mapsettings.cfg ?
You create yourself more problems because these files are not always compatible with a new map.
If you want to store addresess and use them with every map even when the address is outside the map
create a poi files give them different names create also a very small icon to show you the address on the map.
It's just a little more work to do when you plan a new route, but it work sure with every map.
If you want, I've an example for you available.

The advantage is a much smaller list of favorites. I don't like a favorites list that is several pages long, finding the destination i want is sometimes difficult as many names of hotels, streets, etc are very similar. I haven't run across a compatability issue yet? I didn't know I could create my own poi list, that could potentially solve the problem? I'll look into that as an option.

I used to use a POI set called 'Customers' - very handy when you're out on the road making visits and you want to know if there are any other customers nearby ;)
