map sugestion for florida usa help please.

Postby sadsack » Wed Apr 13, 2016 7:27 pm

Hi chaps...

I've managed to update my 510/710 with the 965.7250 uk roi maps.... but a mate of mine is off to the states and wants to lend my unit, so I was wondering what would be the best US maps to get... (I'm looking at which would be the quickest to download) but would still cover him in the florida region (orlando and disney).

thanks chaps for any advice....

I only advised you on United_States_965.7250 before as you said you wanted ALG etc

However if you want a smaller download then [Please Register or Login to download file] would be a lot smaller at 928MB and also has meta released

OR, if you don't think your mate will decide to drive to the west coast, you might want to load
46 65 88 6D DC 45 AF 6A B4 46 2B 2B 86 D6 32 3D Eastern_US_and_Canada-100673.meta ; Eastern_US_and_Canada 965_7283.
This map has IQ Routes & ALG. 7280 maps have zero features.
I do not give help by PM. It deprives our other members of a chance to learn. Please post your issue in the appropriate forum/thread. You will get an answer.

Hi chaps...

And Thank you tendriver for the advice,....

Well I went with the US South Atlantic 965.7250... on advice from a pm i received.

Know I have hit a small snag... Their may be a chance i will get flamed for this, but here goes.... I didn't want to use my original SD card and put the maps onto that as their will be an obvious chance that someone will get to see where the majority of my family live.... plus other items I would rather not divulge.

So today I received Some new SD cards,... not the 4Gb ones i wanted but 8gb instead.

This is the bit where I may have problems,... I wanted to start with a fresh install,.. so after trying to find on navitotal a refresh/renew guide, I did a quick google search and found a guide.... It's nothing anyone here probably knows off by heart but I needed to know the info...
I'm hoping by posting the site their will not be any problems but it's only to show the details that i followed:
DELETED by tendriver Super Mod TUTORIAL-Clean-Install-How-to-install-the-latest-map-and-navcore-from-scratch!
I didn't do 1, 2, or 3, as this was not necessary, so straight on to 4.
My tomtom downloaded various voices and program/navigator 6.525 (this seemed strange as when I went to [Please Register or Login to download file] it shows the GO 510 as being V 16.101 Released on 5 April 2016,...
Anyway there were no more updates available for my tomtom, so HOME rebooted my tomtom,... initially the tomtom logo appeared and then my tomtom turned itself off.
I thought okay, no problem there, just turn it back on, as the guide says that my tomtom needs to be turned back on to create the ttgo.bif file.
I tried to turn it back on again, same thing again. So this time I turned it back on with the usb connected to laptop, this time it turns on and i can see there is no ttgo.bif file anywhere.

On part 7 I cannot check my navcore without the unit connected to laptop, and I am assuming that the navcore is 6.525.

here is a list of the files installed by HOME,
Folders:
fleetecd
gns
program
ttntools
voices

Files:
data.chk
fmsignal
install.bif
libaec.so
mctx.dat
system
tomtom.ico
tthome.bif
ttn
ttsystem

I have already downloaded "Universal Navcore Installer" by downunder35m, just in case i need it.
and I have the maps ready to be installed,...
So this is the bit where I need to ask for a little bit of guidance please.... what would be my next couple of steps,..

p.s. would the 8gb card be the cause of the problem, because I believe I've used various 4 and 8 gb cards in the past and they've always been okay. card in question is an sandisk sdhc. no different to my 4gb card.

I have to say my tomtom can be a little temperamental at times and does occasionally need the toothpick method to get it to work again. Usually everytime I put a SD card in and out.

Quick update....

Really cannot understand why HOME would not update my navecore.... So I did a quick google search and found a link for the 710 on tomtom's own website...
navcore_7.903.9183.go510-go710.cab (removed link)

it was from this link here:
https:// (sorry chaps had to remove the link)

I used winrar to unpack the cab and copied all files overriding what was already on there,... I removed my tomtom from the laptop and now it boots up, .. went through the configuration for language, time, and now its asking for a map.

So I tried to update through HOME again to see if it would update my navecore again,... Nope...

SO is HOME basically shagged....

Sorry chaps for the links, as I said it was only to show what i tried.... (I should have just copied and pasted the info instead) dohhh..

Is their a particular navecore that is best suited to my old 710.

I have also tried HOME on my old XP machine, it updated to the latest version of HOME and it allows me to operate my tomtom.... very strange... but again , no updates available, even though I have updated the navecore manually.

Also noticed that on my old xp machine I have an extra icon called "Tyre"... (As I said before, it's been a long time since I did any updates).
I think my navecore on my old card was a pre--racked version that emulated parts on a 910... I think it was by someone Italian, because I remember the language used was a little hard to follow.

Is the reason tomtom won't update my navecore because I have no maps installed at the moment?

There is nothing wrong with your TTH

The navcore 16.101 is only for devices that were made after September 2010 as they use a completely different file system.

If you'd have looked further down the TomTom list of navcores you'd have seen that the latest officially supported navcore for your Go 710 is 7.903 which is why you're not offered any further updates through TTH.

However, if you want to use a navcore (from a newer model prior to Sept 2010) that will allow you to use the fully featured maps (ALG etc) we would recommend you use 9.510 as it is well tried and tested across a lot of devices.

Personally, I'd start afresh with NC 9.510 and then load your maps of choice

The 510/710 where installed (May 2007) with navcore 6 that is the reason that via Home you got the 6.525. Most of the time you have to update twice so that you got the right last navcore 7.903 what fredderf said.

And it was impossible to have installed navcore (16.101) because you need MYDriveConnect for that.
I suppose that was a misreading from fredderf

Thanks chaps for the replies, and sorry for the late reply.

Seems it doesn't matter how many times I request an update through home, it just keeps saying , no further updates available.

So it seems 9.510 is the one of choice. (32mb model)

I just wondered, when one runs universal navecore installer it plays some Australian music. I can remember watching a very good video years ago from an Australian chap who showed how to use a generator to update ones maps. Wondered if it might be the same person.

oops missed the post by hollyhead, 9510 for x10 devices. not the 32mb devices then.

quick update: used the universal updater,.... perfect.
installed uk roi United Kingdom and ROI 965.7250_Installer pre-cracked i believe, and also installed US South Atlantic 965.7250_Installer pre-cracked as well.

run my tomtom and I've been greeted with (something I've read a lot about elsewhere)... You cannot use this map on this device: United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-100654.
same error for south atlantic map as well. And I thought i was doing rather well up until that point.

okay,.... I'll try the fastactivate tool,.... direct from the SD card in the tomtom,...

Does this look correct chaps..... only the bit about Incomplete Map(s): is a bit confusing.... I downloaded them direct from the links available from navi, and I downloaded the installer versions.

Both maps working fine chaps.....

Does anyone know how I managed to get my tomtom to say "shutdown sequence initialized" and an image of someone stealing a tomtom... I only wondered as I've not got it any more when i turn off the unit....

Also really wanted to say thanks chaps for all your input and advice.... would have been up **** creek without a paddle otherwise... lol

Probably down to a customization of the previous navcore you had installed, normally you'd be looking at an antitheft.bmp image when the device is shutting down as a reminder.

Btw, you can edit your own posts, so you might want to remove the link to the other forum from post #5 and also the DeviceID No. from post #12 for your own security reasons.
