O.k so I think I figured out why the tomtom one keeps restarting. It runs perfectly with the map for 1minute 30 secs and then reboots from scratch.
Now this tomtom runs from the MS as the internal hd is knackered.
New universal navcore for 32mb device selected (9.510 tendrivers) as is the latest boot loader 5.5128.
The correct 955.6801 ukROi map, and GPs 1.2 all fast activated.
Shows 32Mb Ram (and free ? ranges from 0.0 meg to 0.2meg free) I'm guessing this is why it keeps on shutting down ?
I've seen a few ones that still have 5+ megs free and work.
Thankyou

Get one of my installers and install a version for 32mb devices.
Fri Sep 04, 2015 8:36 am
Apologies, I was using yours downunder not tendrivers.
Here's what's interesting nc 9.510 leaves me no free ram at all, but nc 9.160 leaves me 6 mg ram free.
Yes I used the unci and chose 'for 32' mg devices.
I wonder if the sat receiver is gone because it always tells me I have poor sat reception even when outside.
I've looked at the gps config and it never shows it has found any satellites.
sirf 3
I'm sure I've done everything right with this unit and that I just think something inside it has died.
Thankyou for your reply.

The 32mb versions from my installers should bring at least 6mb of free RAM.
Is it possible that you activated a lot of POI's to show up on the map as that would kill the performance of even a 64mb device.

I thought of that too.All poi's switched off.

In that case I have to assume something is wrong.
Try a different installer, the V9 Navcores are basically identical in llok and feel, except for the Rider Navcore of course.
Delete all files and folder from the device, make a backup first if you have any custom voices, images or similar.
Make sure, after selecting and installing the Navcore to let the TT boot up fully once.
It will complain about the missing map, ignore that for now.
After about 10 minutes turn the TT of and install the map, activate it too.
This procedure will make sure the TT can write the swap file with success.

I tried swapping nc's I installed 9.160 and a few different maps.
I've formatted the M/S to fat or should it be fat 32 ?
(You know I may have even tried both ) but I guess if that were wrong it wouldn't boot up and run for 1 min 30.
I did notice that even when shutting down, resetting and switching back on much later the tomtom unit does not write a ttgo.bif file.
I think it only writes that in home (using the M/S in a card reader)- but will have to check to make sure...I really think some part of this unit is knackered. Thanks for the replies and ideas though Downunder.

Did anyone say I am out of ideas?
One of the most important rules for internal flash memory is : DO NOT FORMAT IT!
Windows is too dumb to know the difference and treats flash memory the same way as your hard drive - in terms of formatting it.
Get the format tool from sdcard.org and format the TT with this - only a quick format please.
After that run the installer again but select a folder on your hard drive as the destination.
Once completed copy the files from that folder onto the TT - it should copy quite quick if not something is wrong.
The ttgo.bif will only be create AFTER a successful boot, this means seeing the map on the screen and being able to navigate.
But for the map activation you can use any ttgo.bif your device created and use FastActivate and the map files on a folder on the PC - again when done copy the map folder (check for the DCT file) onto the TT.
Make sure not to get confused with the folder structure so that stuff ends up in subfolders!

Downunder this unit (tomtom one v3) does not show an internal drive. That's why I think its knacked.
I plug it into windows (no M/s inserted )and it shows unrecognised usb device (see my other previous post). This leaves me with only the memory stick to work with.
If inserted it sees the stick only, or I take the stick out and use it inside a memory card reader.
Not sure I can format the flash drive if windows won't even see it ?
Thanks bud.

Ok, no access is not nice...
But I guess you mean a SD card as I have seen a memory stick in a TT.
Procedure on a SD would be the same as on internal memory though.

Thanks downunder.I read this version has a 1Gb flash drive and I guess that's died.
It doesn't seem to lock onto satellites either...(the bif file under GPS shows = and then nothing.)
Maybe that's why it resets after exactly 1 min 30secs..I don't know.
I've tried sooo many navcores and maps and it still has the same result.
so after weeks of pulling out my hair its time to admit defeat on behalf of my friend.
So swan song...Thankyou everyone who replied and if I can help on the boards I still will as I love this site.
Cheers guys.
