Thanks, I had a look at your custom menu, I put it on mine but a lot of the menu options were greyed out or missing their icon but I found the compass settings and enabled the compass on the start emulation and then removed the custom menu files to go back to the standard start emulation. The compass stayed there so thats good. I had a look at editing the menu to be a standard menu like the x50 emulation or the one emulation but it looked too complicated for me... My ideal thing would be to have the one or x50 emulations menu with the starts status bar... that would be the best for a small screen 32mb tomtom device.

It´s not complicated if you compare the file to the view on your device.
The 3 main pages are the start and you simply delete the icons you don't need or move them elsewhere.
If you want to keep the original pref menu you can cut everything after the main setcion out and only adjust the numbers for the menu pages.
Sorry, but my programming skills are not good enough to create an interactive tool for the menu creation...

I must be blind. Template?
Thanks.

The attached tomtom.mnu ;)
You can't see it as a ready-to-go" menu as I tried to include all that I could find and access on my device.
To get a working custom menu you have to adjust the tomtom.mnu to your needs or ask in the thread if someone would upload a nice one ;)

Hello DownUnder, thanks for your very good job. With your package (and google :) , I was able to resurrect a dead Tomtom one v3 with broken sdcard and without any software coming with; not even a single backup.
added a computer voice in LoquendoTTS from a package,
and a map activated using fastactivate and the file ttgo.bif generated a first boot.

using this thread I managed to guess features : skin chooser for emulation, custom menu, compass. I will monitor memory available after several reboots.

next step : adding speed cams (will look on the forum..), and making TomTom Home functional.
Indeed, It seems that TomTom Home (v2.90) does not manage to download profile on my computer (w7), even if I choose 'Operate'. I have waited a long time without success, and checked carefully tutorial 'how to patch tom tom home'..

Thanks again, my friend will appreciate his old device back to a new life.
(is your nick name a reference to 'Men at work' single ? I like it ;-)

You only need to patch Home for the device simulation.
And for your backup always use the Windows Explorer as Home does not create a full and working backup.

1) thx for the tip.
for tomtom home unable to see my device, the reason is that my computer does not see the device , not even as a removable disk (the device was recognized without difficulty on another computer). when plugging it the first time on w7 I had a BSOD; now I have to clear something in the w7 system for the device to be discovered again (got already links on tomtom sites; will try to solve that..). anyway what would tomtom home be usable for ? do I need to use it ?

2) something important for your package :
to be able hear the voice, I have to say that I had to add a setconfig.txt file in root, containing the following lines :

model:x30
sdid:1
runcheck
changedtext:Tonio
bton
fmon

if the file is renamed, i cannot hear the (computer voice) any more.
so even if ttsoff is not present, it seems that the presence of the file (or one of the lines, do not know which one yet) is important ?

3) as a newbie I have a question, what SE (near navcore) stands for ?

1. If a device is incorrectly disconnected from a PC, the unit must be reset before the computer will see it. Have you done a "hard reset"? TT Home is used to get mapshare & QuickGPSfix updates, download additional files & more to your unit.
2.
model:x30
sdid:1 only needed if you use different Navcores on several SD cards to make sure you keep your settings you need a "SDid.txt" with a corresponding number on each SD card
runcheck checks once some data and writes the result into "config.txt"
changedtext:Tonio You can type whatever you like
bton to activate menu functions like "Safety cams" - won't activate BT on device without the hardware!!
fmon necessary on some x10 devices and to enable the MP3 player(Jukebox) functions on some devices

None of these should have any bearing on your voice issue.

3. Special Edition

hi,
1) tried all what i've found, including reset, still not recognized on my w7 but ok for xp
2)
got the reason why : after switching with skin chooser to 'x50 emu' I can hear anything, even if I have set 'output through internal'. switching off device does not work, the screen is black but still light, and then restart after a delay.
back to 'one' or 'xl live' emu with skin chooser, behaviour is ok
thx for all

Surely you jest!!!!

Copy a navcore, map, a copy of the 530's ttgo.bif & FastActivate Premium 1.8.8.9 on the card. Run FA to patch the navcore & map. Done!!

This Navcore is working great on my old Go300.
I have UK & RoI 890_4222 with LoquendoTTS voice.
8.8 MB of free RAM!

Nice job Downunder :-) :clapping_mini:

Installed in TomTom one xl, patched with FastActivate, works fine. Start with about 5.2 MB remaining. "Navigate to" a distant place, run the demo mode for a couple of minutes, exit out of the demo, check availability of RAM, and it's up to 7.6 MB!!! Runs very well, only problem am having is updating "map shares". Any thoughts??

Fri Jul 13, 2012 2:01 pm

Mapshare sometimes makes problems from the TT server side.
Do you get an error or simply no updates offered?
Initial writing of the swap file should be finnished after about 2 minutes the latest.
It is set to start again once the free Ram drpos below about 5.5mb, so if you really work your device hard with all extras possible you might notice a slight lack every now and then.
Unless you get reboots when recalculating a long route you should be fine.

Fri Jul 13, 2012 5:57 pm

Don't get any error messages, just don't get the updates. Never shows anything on TomTom home as updated. I don't have any POIs running or anything taxing. I only use a POI when I need one. I try to use it with everything I can at a minimum. It works great, just can't seem to get map updates. Great job on the swap file, haven't seen it used anywhere else. Keep up the good work, and thanks for everything!!!
