[Discussion] Navcore 9.510 with automatic power on function

Postby nelson1979 » Tue Aug 13, 2013 11:34 am

Thanks for your help Downunder35m. Did u saw the 9.530.1234792.28? Can u add the features of this one? I'm new to deep configuration to TOMTOM and i'm learning... I downloaded this navcore but it don't have the skinchooser, the RDS patch and the GPSFix.
Another question, where the fav and other settings are stored? bc I changed the navcore twice and all stuff is still there.

Thanks!

@ Nelson1979: You can simply add the files if you need asian support - or is there any other reason why you need the 9.530?
It does not help to mention you have no skin chooser if you don't mention your device - by the way: how to manually set the reskin file to a specific emulation is explained in several discussion threads to my other installer Navcores.
What makes you say you don't have the RDS patch or the QuickFix?

To all:
So far there was only positive feedback, so I take requests for other Navcores that you think require a automatic power on feature.
But keep it reasonable and explain why you nee this specific NC with that feature - many Navcores received updates too.
I can say this Navcore and the kernel is stable and working, so if anyone feels the need to spread the files please use your own mirror for the future releases.

So, 9.510 to 9.530 have nothing new? OK, just wanted to know if there's something new.
I asked because in your post says:

Mods from side include :
Custom startup and shutdown images for the widescreen models.
TMC fix included so your RDS receiver will work.
English Kate Loquendo voice with personal mods so you have a working TTS configuration.
Other minor things

This fixes (Automatic Power-ON and TMC fix) can u add to 9.530? It's worth the update?

Thanks for your help. I'm newbie and saw that new navcore and wanted to give it a try. Thanks!

Navcores 9.510, 9.520 & 9.530 were all released at the same time. 9.520 is an Asian version. 9.530 is a Southeast Asia version.

The added QuickFix in the menu is to download it using a connected mobile phone.
The RDS fix was done as TT uses the wrong file with no support for the older, wired, TMC receivers.
Apart from very minor things there is not much difference between the various V9 Navcores, except the Rider and Truck.

Thanks for this navcore release.
Has anyone had the auto power-on function working after sitting overnight?

I tested the navcore on a Go630 and a Go720, both units auto power on in the minutes after installing the navcore, but not if left overnight. Just trying to work out if I have an isolated issue or it's to do with settings.

Thanks :)

The TT goes from stand by to fully off after 30 minutes,
if you want to change that time, change the value inside the file "suicide.dat" - value is in seconds.
If you want to risk to fully drain the battery you can also delete the file and the TT will shut off once the battery level is critical.

Thanks that's good to know. I'd need to set it at 48hrs+. What's the standby power drain like?

I changed the value of suicide.dat in the root directory of the unit to 172800 (= 48hours) on the Go720.

The unit successfully auto booted when connected to power, after 24 hours of standby. Power drain doesn't seem to be significant (battery still shows full). I'll test further over the next few days.

The battery on that unit is newish, was replaced about 12 months ago and has had very little use since then.

So far this seems to be working very nicely on my Go 730. Thanks for your excellent work as always!

I have this unit mounted on my motorbike inside a waterproof case, which in turn is wired into the bike's electrical system. Turning on with power means I don't have to open the case to access the power button :)

I wonder if there's a way to have the unit power down when I turn the bike off (which cuts the power to the TomTom)...

Thanks again!

On most units, go to Change preferences > Power Saving > Shut down when external power is lost.

Also as above, open the suicide.dat file in notepad and change the value to increase the standby time so that the unit will auto boot when you drive it again.

Here are the values I've tried.

1800 (30 minutes, default)
86400 (24 hours)
172800 (two days)
259200 (three days)

I'm using 259200 and the unit boots fine after three days.

Hi Downunder
Thanks for your great navcores.
I have downloaded your exe file and i have chosen the version for go.
I deleted the files on the internal drive on my go520 and copied the files to the drive.
Everything Works fine, but i cant get it to start up when power comes on.
Is there a setting in the menu system or is the auto power on feature only in the rider version?

Regards Torben5247

I have just discovered that this navcore struggles to play mp3s off my Go 730 SD Card. It stalls every few seconds like it's buffering. They play fine under other navcore.

Actually this seems somewhat intermittent. It may or may not be the navcore, and it may or may not even be an issue :P
