Your device won't accept V8 Navcores.
In order to get Truck Navcore working you'll need to replace the kernel with a V9.
You can download a packet here : [Please Register or Login to download file]
Password : downunder

It is not perfect as you need to hold the power button 15+ sec. to turn the device off, or use the reset.
Some other minor flaws are there too on some devices, but nothing major.

Presumably the v9 Navcore won't give full functionality of the Truck Maps?

Did you say you drive a tank? LOL

You are correct. The Truck map requires a Truck navcore for full Truck functionality. 8.398 is the current Truck navcore.

It is not a V9 Navcore, but the 8.398 with a V9 kernel - otherwise it won't work on X50 device.
You can not use a V8 Navcore on a X50 device unless you change the kernel.
