Sun Jan 22, 2012 9:29 pm

I have the following system

DeviceName=TomTom GO 930
DeviceVersionHW=GO 930

I tried to downlaod a install 9.053 nav.
1) Put all teh files from internal memory to sd card.
2) Unzip "9.053.go950.CAB-navcore-GO.zip" on sd card overwrting the files on sd card.
3) Add the 880.3810 map on sd card.
4) Run Fast activator (all four options).
5) Insert the card in TT and start TT. The TT cannot go beyond the splash screen.

1. Confirm that your 3810 map got patched, by seeing a .meta.dct file in the 3810 map folder. If no file, rerun FA.
2. Download these 2 pre-patched files. Unzip & load them to the card, overwriting common files.

Disconnect & reboot.

What files are on the internal memory?
Not still the old 8.351 I hope !!

What is wrong with keeping the original as a backup for a broken SD?
The 930 is "dual boot" - so it can access the files on the internal and SD memory at the same time.
With the SD in the user can use the maps on internal mem and on SD, same for voices and so on.

Do you have a problem with 8.351???

Mon Jan 23, 2012 12:42 pm

I don't have problem with 8.351, but just thinking of updating the navcore.
1) I copied all the files from internal memory (original navcore 8.351) to sd card.
2) 2. Download these 2 pre-patched files. Unzip & load them to the card, overwriting common files.
[Please Register or Login to download file] .
3) Add a patched North America 880.3810 map to the SD card.
4) Still all the files and Europe map are on internal memory.
5) Insert the SD card and start the TT.
6) Now the TT goes through the splash screen but I can only see the Europe map which is on the internal memory. when I tap on TT screen it shows version 8.351 ()old version).

The two 8.351 comments were aimed at willy647. You are OK.
It appears that your unit is not reading the card & is still booting from the internal.
You have bootloader 5.5120, so your sd card should not be an issue.

To me it appears that you copied the 8.351 to the SD but only added the patched files for the 9.053.
You forgot to add the actual Navcore.
Please check if you have a .dct file corresponding to the map name in your map folder and that files for the map are not in a sub folder.
The folder name should not contain any spaces.
Download the Cab for the 9.053,
unpack and copy all files to the SD - confirm overwrite,
use the pre patched files you already have and overwirte the original files on the SD.
Delete the file "system" on the SD.
Now the Navcore is correctly installed and should be working, if not do a hard reset 8 hold reset for 30+ sec) and the TT clear flash tool.

Thanks you very much. The map on the SD card is patched and not in subfolder.
Seems like I did not add the Cab for the 9.053. Below are the steps I am going to try.
1) Copy files from internal memory to sd card. Leave the files on internal memory as it is.
2) Unzip Cab for the 9.053 and copy on sd card overwriting the files.
3) use the pre patched files you already have and overwirte the original files on the SD.
3) Copy the patched map on the SD card (no subfolder and meta.dct file present).
4) Delete the file "system" on the SD.
5) Start the TT.
6) if not do a hard reset 8 hold reset for 30+ sec) and the TT clear flash tool.

can you please check the steps and see if I am missing anything.

Looks OK to me, altho I'm not sure of Downunder's reason for deleting the system file.

Might not be necessary for him, but other users might read it too and due to a lack of knowledge they might update an incompatible device with the bootloader.
I posted it as a general guide not aimed at that one particular device.

Thanks a lot. I will give it a try today.

tried teh stpes as mentioned above but TT is stuck at the splash screen.
If tehre is no advantage in updating the navcore then I can live with 8351.
I have the updated maps which is good enough.

Let's start over. Follow these instructions exactly!!!

1. Remove EVERYTHING from the card.
2. Copy everything, except the map, from the internal to the card.
3. Copy 9.053 to the card, overwriting any common files.
4. Copy the pre-patched ttsystem file & PNDNavigator file to the card, overwriting common files.
5. Delete the .meta.dct file from the NA 3810 map folder. Copy this map folder to the card.
6. Copy FastActivate to the card. Run FA & only click the map/voice/speedcam button.
7. Put the card in the device, disconnect & reboot.
