Did you read the download instructions in post 1 of the All New Maps 885.XXXX thread?
The meta for this map isn't available yet, so you can't use it until the meta is posted.

Well gents, having read through these postings I have to ask what use is TomTom Home ?. For the last 2 or more years I havent been able to operate my 720 using Home because of a constant runtime error or some other problem. I can upgrade both my navcore and map via this site when I want to.I allready have all the bells whistles and voices I need and which are available on other sites anyway and I dont trust Home to backup or restore my device. So in effect the only use to me is Home will update the GPS fix....and I have GPS Quick Fix utility that will do that !.

(Edit: Sorry this probably the wrong place for this comment )

This may come as a shock to you, but not everyone "tinkers" with their dvices & TT Home is their only source for updates etc.
I use it for speedcam, mapshare & Quickfix updates.

Well 'Husha Ma Mouth'....I persevered this afternoon with attempts at installing navcore 9400 and eventually I have managed it AND for the first time in some years I can actualy select 'Operate My Device' in Home and it worked without the annoying run time error preventing it!.
After about 8 attempts at allowing Home to update the navcore from 9205 to 9400 unsuccessfully I eventually deleted (not formatted) all traces of the previous operating system including map so I had a blank internal hard drive, connected it to Home and let it download a navcore of 33mb. It must have been an early version navcore such that when Home restarted the installation it then indicated there was another update navcore available and then downloaded a 49mb download. Thinking that this download was the latest 9400 navcore (as it turns out it wasnt it was version 803 ? but I didnt know this at that stage) I ran FastActivate and just patched the PND/sys. Next I installed the UK 885 map which auto patched itself on installation and it all loaded. At this point I recognized that the icons seemed 'old design' and so checked the version of navcore discovering that Home had installed the old version 8.03. So as I had nothing to loose at this stage I connected the device back up to Home and it promptly downloaded navcore 9400. When it had finished I used FastActivate on everything and lo and behold it all works!.
However, I am somewhat disappointed that Home will not support (it says) the installation of either startup or shut down sounds which all the other versions of navcores do. I am suspecting I have a fault in the download somewhere because the TomTom drums are not working on boot up either although the logo is displayed OK ( Correction : The drum beats are working now ???). Kate Computer voice works fine and announces everything it should be.
I havent road tested it but it seems to be OK up till now. But if I cant overcome the sound problem I shall revert back to navcore 9205. I am not impressed with the icon design either....they look, well, old is about all I can say.

TomTom 720
Map 885
Nav 9400
Boot Load 5.5250

1. TT Home will incrementally update a unit with a way out of navcore.
2. 9.205 using a prepatched ttsystem file is set to X40 emu, so the icons were the new ones. 9.400 downloaded from TT Home onto a X20 unit has the X20 old icons.
3. I'll look into the sound issue.

Right, that explains the icon 'look'.
For your info and for feedback purposses Home is currently advising me that the 885 is 20 weeks out of date and is obviously not updating. In the Sounds download folder the start up and shutdown sounds icons are greyed out thus preventing installation of any choices. I do have the TomTom drum beat start up sound on boot up just to clarify. Now if I recall correctly I had this problem last year with a navcore update where Home was indicating that the start up and shutdown sound files couldnt be updated and because I had the identical files updated on another 720 which did allow the very same files to be updated by Home I was certain there was a patching problem with one of the files somewhere. I eventually overcame it with your advice at the time but for the life of me I cant remember what you told me to do ???. It wouldnt have been altering lines 9 & 10 in the ttgo.bif file would it?.

1. 1 down 2 to go.
2. For your info and for feedback purposes Home is currently advising you that the 885 is 20 weeks out of date and is obviously not updating, because the 885 maps are only 4 days old & do not have enuf user mapshare feedback to create an adaquate mapshare update data base. Be patient!!
3. I'm working on the sounds Issue. the ttgo.bif file is not an issue.

Have you tried deleting the existing sounds and than try to get new ones using Home?
You can also create you own sounds.

Thanks Tendriver, I mentioned the 20 week map download only as an 'indicator' of what I was seeing in case it meant anything to you. But as you point out, the maps are very new and wont have any update history yet.

Hi DownUnder35. No I havent tried deleting the sounds and reinstalling mainly because I dont know what I am doing and because Tendriver is looking at the problem. I could delete sounds and if it goes to 'rasberry juice' just reinstall the backup so it wouldnt be a problem but just in case Tendriver wants to use my current setup as a 'test bed' and needs it kept in the current state I have described I think I will wait a while before tinkering further. But thanks for the suggestion.

LOL.I was afraid someone would ask me for a title. The start up sound is the Apple Chime which I have both the ogg and tlv files for in my sound AND map folder. The other sound I dont know the title of and cant seem to recognize it in the folder on an identical 720 using the 9205 nav ( sounds work on that device) Its a female saying "Initializing Shutdown Sequence".

My start up & shutdown sounds downloaded from TT Home are OGG files in the root directory of the Int Mem, not in a folder.

I have just checked and found that the ogg file Apple Chime IS also in my root but dont work.
Any idea what the TomTom drum title is or how can I identify it ?. If I can find that perhaps I can work out where the Apple Chime should go.

What would happen if I temporarily changed the ttgo.bif file (lines 9 & 10 ?) to the navcore 9.205 details just to see if Home would download the sound files ?.
Currently the error box in Home reads " You cannot use this feature because it is not supported by this device".
