Navcore Version 9.400

I had exactly the same problems being described here and after about 8 attempts at trying to patch the system found the following method worked for me.
1. Backup the current working system with Explorer.
2. Delete EVERYTHING from the internal hard drive (not format) so you have a clean system.
3.Log on to HOME and it will download onto the blank hard drive an old navcore (cant remember what it was-8.30 or something and about 33mb)
4. Disconnect TomTom from Home then reconnect again ( I dont know why-I just did it). You will then get offered another newer navcore around 49mb.When this had been installed I mistakenly thought it was 9400 and so I used FastActivate Premium to patch it.

5. Install map 885 (UK & ROI) which auto patches itself.

6. Connect again to Home which then offers 9400 navcore, install it and patch everything again. I cant remember whether I re-booted the device and then patched everything or not so you may have to experiment with variations of the procedure.
7. The down side of the update is Home will not allow install of any start up or shutdown sounds. The TomTom drumbeat and its splash picture work OK. Also I have discovered a minor problem with the new map as it is incorrectly indicating I have arrived at a destination which is about a mile too early but its only one fault and nothing to do with the download. Also I am not keen on the old looking icons in this navcore but they do their job.

OK thank's: I will keep in mind: there is NO relationship between "Bootloader" and "Navcore"

This is not correct!!! There is a direct relationship between "Bootloader" and "Navcore". EVERY navcore has it's own bootloader.

what does that mean (or not):

  • navcore X may not work with the bootloader of navcore (X-1) ?
  • navcore (X-1) may not work with the bootloader of navcore X ? (in case of downgrade)

If we compare bootloader to pc bios, OS/nacore use lowlevel functionnalities of bootloader/bios to use the hardware, so in my mind may inter-act ?

Does anyone experience downgrade from 9.400/9.401 navcore back to 8.x, please ?

The bootloader is only interesting for users of older devices as here the wrong BL messes with the USB transfer - no more not less.
There is no "downgrade" or "upgrade" on TT's, you install what you like in the version you like (in our terms - TT Home sees it a bit different).
As Home aready states it is an "Apllication" not a firmware that needs flashing!
And the 9.4xx runs fine on all supported 64mb devices as long as it was installed correctly.
You only patch the original but never a SE or one of the Navcores I uploaded.

Let's keep it simple. The bootloader is a small program that loads the operating system (navcore) into the TomTom's memory, when the system is booted and also starts the operating system (navcore). EVERY navcore has it's own bootloader.

Following on from my issues with 9400, I downloaded and installed 9401 from the link in the thread on this site, ran Fastactivate Premium, and lo and behold, it works perfectly. Connected to Tomtom home, and it gave me the quickfix and mapshare updates without any problem :clap:

I updated my TT One 140 from 9.026 to 9.401 and I'm really disappointed with the new design/layout.
The 2D/3D switch view is now stuck on the status bar and it appears it cannot be removed.
The time, current speed/road speed front is so small now, very hard to see.

Anybody else disappointed with design layout of 9.401?

Nope, but you should keep in mind that this NC is designed for devices with a big screen...
Also what emulation do you use? In self it should be ok.

If they were designed for devices with bigger screens then surely TT wouldn't release the same layout for smaller screen if it doesn't fit, would they? it does look squashed in there...

Not sure what you mean about the emulation I use, pardon my ignorance....

1. The 2D/3D view on the status bar becomes the turn info display when running a route.
2. Can you post a screen shot, please?

According to TT.com 9.401 is the current official navcore for a ONE 140.

1. 9.401 is the official NC for a whole range of devices with both LG & SM screens.
2. emulation doesn't apply to your unit, unless you are running a modified version of 9.401.

the left side, font is smaller and squashed, the 2D/3D is just a waste of space.
