It covers some basic things like step by step guide? See you have two sticky posts for map 865. One has installer, etc. Which one I should use?
I downloaded Canada map. Now what? Can I just copy it to the device and use it without some sort of patch? I have GO 720 with NA2G835.2419 NV 8.351.

5. I have GO 720 with NA2G835.2419 NV 8.351.
1. You won't need a step by step.
2. The map thread with the installer is for members that can't handle downloading, unzipping & copying a map to the main directory of their device or card.
3. Which Canada map?
4. Both navcore & map require patching.
5. OK.

Great. I did it! Finally I broke the thing. After applying Fastactive (patching), the unit keep rebooting. Then I copied back my backup to the root directory. Now the unit is freeze on the first screen has "road". Only reset can bring it back and it freeze on that screen again. Connect to Home seems still working. The only file I could n't copy back is data_im1.chk but I though it should n't matter.

1. Applying FA to what?
2. Did you clean the memory, before you installed your backup?
3. All data.chk files are important.

it is dynamically generate by system(windows), I can't override it.
removed nv and update it via tomtom to 7480. Now to 8300, next to 8351. Lost my NA map. I guess I can just copy it over
It is fun.

format it and back to business.

Glad you got it sorted. Formatting didn't correct the problem. It is just coincidental. Emptying the memory solved it for you. We never format, except in the most severe cases.
