New to TOMTOM, not sure what to do

Hi,
I have a tomtom one.
v3, i think.

I had navcore 8.017 and I downloaded 8.562. I installed map 890.4268, but it didn't work.

I restored the device to its original state (8.017 map 835.2366)

What did I go wrong? Bad links? Can anyone provide one, since many of the links I tried (from this forum) are broken?

1. Go here: TomTom Current Configuration {29.09.2011} Read the instructions. Run the program & post the results here.
2. OK
3. Map 890.4268 requires navcore 9.00X or above.
4. OK.
5. You failed to check the compatibility of your navcore & new map, before you downloaded it.
