New Western Europe 1GB 900 4608 not working

Postby DanJayUK » Mon Dec 31, 2012 1:46 pm

Hi,

I usually have no problems installing new maps now but this has got me stumped. I was really pleased to see a meta appear for the 1GB 900 4608 Western Europe map so I downloaded the Automatic Installer/Patcher link. I have a 1GB One XL with the 9.485 Navcore - which was working fine with the 890 4234 version of the same map. I've run the installer but when the TomTom boots it says I cannot use the map with this device.

Any ideas?

Thanks! Dan

western europe map is actually 1.02 Gb in size,it's probably too large for a 1GB device

The previous map was larger than 1Gb in size - the "1GB" version is specifically meant for the 1GB devices to be able to process. It is coming up with the same error I would expect if the meta was incorrect or hadn't worked. I'm going to have a play myself to see if I can sort but was hoping someone might have a suggestion in the meantime.

I've solved this myself. I don't know if there is a problem with the Automatic Installer or the meta it uses but it wasn't activating correctly - the first time I've seen that with the AI version. Having used the AI to place the map files on my TomTom I then didn't bother letting the FastActivate that is included run on this occasion. Instead I copied the following:

65 41 B1 E1 23 36 D9 54 40 1D 4D E6 4E E6 2A 95 Western_Europe_1GB-670.meta
; Western_Europe_1GB_900_4608 *~*

into Notepad, saved it with filename "meta" and then used an old version of FastActivate. Going via this route and it works perfectly.

It might be worth someone in the know checking the meta that the included version of FastActivate is correct though maybe there is simply some quirk in my set up that was preventing it working?

FastActivate, including the 24.12.2012 version does not have the Western_Europe_1GB_900_4608 meta included in the "Integrated_meta.txt". The only change in new versions of FastActivate is an updated meta file.

You did well.

Nice one! Cheers for confirming tendriver - maybe my post will be of help to someone else in the same situation. Makes a change from me asking all the questions. As always, great site and keep up the good work.

What would help even more, would be for members to READ THE FastActivate Premium 1.8.9.0 Updated 24.12.2012 INSTRUCTIONS. Fixes for issues like yours are very clearly explained.
