Newbie having problems creating new map SD card

Postby Craig007 » Fri Mar 16, 2012 1:34 pm

Folks,

I must be doing something dumb but I think I have followed all the tutorial and still get the message "You cannot use this map on this device" when I try and switch to my new map.

What I have done -

1. Formated a new SD card card as Fat 32
2. Extracted the 2 zip files from the tutorial to the card
3. Changed the file to give me a ttsystem file
4. Created the ttgo.bif whith contents -

DeviceName=Carminat TomTom
DeviceUniqueID=A********A
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9401

That is my unique ID with the space removed and my application version number.

I then pulled down the United Kingdom and REpublic of Ireland 885.4010_Installer.exe

I ran this to install the map and do the patching. It all seemed to work fine.

5. Put the SD card in my TomTom Go730 and tried to switch maps.

Any ideas?

1. We never recommend formatting except in the most severe cases.
2. Which tut?
3. Explain please.
4. You can't create a ttgo.bif file. Your device creates it's own, everytime you boot it.
You downloaded the wrong map. For a 730, you want UK & ROI 885.4009.
5. Your ttgo.bif sez Carminat, but point 5 sez 730. Which are you working with?
Has the 730 navcore been patched?

1. It was a new SD card anyway
2. http://www.navitotal.com/showthread.php?2620-10-Simple-Steps-To-Upgrade-Carminat-for-Newbies
3. See tutorial above (I guess this is the wrong tutorial for me)
4. Followed instructions in tut (do I not need the 2 files on the SD card then?)
5. it is a go 730, the navcore has not been patched as far as I know.

1. Old or new makes no difference. Don't reformat! Delete everything on you card.
2. Totally disregard this tut.
3. It is indeed.
4. See point 2. Download & unzip UK & ROI 885.4009.
Go here: AutoActivate & FastActivate 1.8.8.5 Download the FA premium version.
Put the 885.4009 map folder, a copy of your 730's ttgo.bif & FA Premiun on the card. Run FA & click the second button to patch the map. If there is a .meta.dct file in the Uk & ROI map folder, the map is patched.
5. Put FA wherever 9401 is loaded, internal or card. Patch 9401 with the third button.
6. Disconnect, insert the card & reboot

A million thanks, that worked a treat. A quick question does the 4009 relate to the navcore version? Just to save asking in the future.

I am a happy man with the latest map :)

Sorry my question maybe was not clear how do you know .4009 is for a 730? I just assumed it was because my navcore is version 9.

885.4009 is a full featured map. ALL GO X20, X30, X40 & X50 units use this version.
