Hi all im new here and looking for some advice.

Have a tomtom xxl and heard I could update maps etc by patching instead of having my pants taken down by tomtom everytime.

I have used patches before on other programmes and jailbroke iphone etc and am not totally stupid but didn't want to do anything that screws the device up.

Can anyone give me the simple steps or point me in the direction of a good tutorial?

Many Thanks

Firstly, welcome to Navitotal.
Have a look around the site, there are plenty of good tutorials.
In particular Downunder's excellent tutorial on how to get the right Navcore and map working on your device
Latest maps are in this section
Latest Navcores are here
Speedcams, voices, other tools are here
You will need to "patch" the system files, maps, speedcams, TT Home, etc, all of which can be done using Huntsman's latest version of Fastactivate

You heard correctly. Please run TomTom Current Configuration {13.11.2011}. Post the results here.
